John,
Progressives who have the courage to stand up and demand a ceasefire are under attack.
Last month, Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon took a bold stance in the Florida Legislature, introducing a resolution calling for a “de-escalation and cease-fire in the state of Israel and occupied Palestine.” But in response to her resolution, urging her colleagues to recognize the humanity of Israelis and Palestinians alike, “most of the House members stood up and turned their backs on Nixon as she defended her resolution during her closing remarks.”1 And one Republican state representative attempted to shout down Nixon’s remarks, calling for the genocide of all Palestinians.2
Rep. Nixon responded:
“You can turn your backs on me because I am on the right side of history because I don’t want the babies to die... Caring about thousands of innocent lives does not make anyone antisemitic.”
This Wednesday at 8pm ET, Rashida will join Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon for a virtual fundraiser for Nixon’s re-election campaign. And they’ll be joined by U.S. Reps. Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, and Delia Ramirez.

Last month, anti-Palestinian group AIPAC announced that it plans to spend $100 million in the 2024 election in an attempt to defeat Rashida and others who stand with the majority of Americans in demanding a ceasefire.
Rashida needs more allies on the state and federal level who are willing to speak out and defend the lives of innocent civilians. Already, more than 14,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza―the majority women and children.
Join Rashida and Reps. Cori Bush, Ilhan Omar, and Delia Ramirez in having Angie’s back! Donate today to RSVP to this Wednesday’s virtual event in support of Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon’s re-election campaign.
Together, we’re standing with nearly 70% of Americans and 80% of Democrats who support a ceasefire even as Congress and the White House are calling for billions of dollars in unconditional funding to continue to drop bombs on innocent Palestinian civilians.
Thank you,
Team Rashida
