Last week, I filed to run for reelection and reached out to ask you to join my grassroots team.

I was so heartened by the outpouring of love and support.

From the bottom of my heart: Thank you!

I think you’ll agree, John: Our country is at an inflection point. We can either elect a Democratic Trifecta to BUILD on our progress, PROTECT our fundamental freedoms, and DEFEND our Democracy… Or we can succumb to Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans’ attempts to pull our country backwards. John, I told you that Donald Trump was coming for your healthcare.

And he did: He warned us that he would “terminate” the Affordable Care Act – kicking tens of millions off their health care and ending protections from denial for preexisting conditions.

And John, you responded.

Since Trump’s threat, Democrats have STEPPED UP to show that we will always put patients’ needs over insurance company greed.

But we can’t stop now. Not when polls say this could be the CLOSEST election yet. Not when there’s THIS MUCH at stake. It is my honor to be a voice in Congress to represent our San Francisco values that uplift the dignity and worth of every person.

Democrats promised to help rebuild from the COVID recession from the bottom up and the middle-class out – with good paying union jobs and dignity for workers — and Democrats Delivered.

President Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats helped create 14 million new jobs and delivered billions in resources to communities across America.

We must protect our progress and do more to improve people’s lives.

We will extend the Biden Child Tax Credit that cut child poverty nearly by half; invest in public education, child care, universal pre-K, paid leave and home health care; and add more union jobs.

And we must – once again – save the Affordable Care Act from the former occasional occupant of the White House who just this week vowed to "terminate" this lifesaving law.

Repealing the ACA would throw millions of families off health care and back into uncertainty and medical bankruptcy.

We are NOT going back to the bad old days where persons with pre-existing medical conditions – disabilities and chronic diseases, people needing mental health care and women are denied care.

We must re-elect President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, win the House and elect Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, and win a filibuster-proof majority for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to codify Roe v Wade, pass the LGBTQ+ Equality Act and reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban.

Unfortunately, extreme Republicans are working with dark money special interests to attack our reproductive freedoms; scapegoat immigrants and LGBTQ+ Americans; repeal lower drug prices; roll back climate action; slash Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid; cut veterans earned benefits; repeal the Affordable Care Act and give obscene tax cuts to the rich!

The facts are clear – American Democracy itself is on the line in 2024.

As we protect our progress, we must restore voting rights and defend our Constitution.

We need a strong Democracy at home and support for diplomacy and allies abroad to constantly show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for all.

These are the fights we face – and why I am running for re-election to Congress.
