Beyond the Sheets Has Officially Launched!

Power to Decide is proud to announce our official launch of Beyond the Sheets, a new student-led initiative addressing the sexual and reproductive health needs of students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

This initiative aims to advance a culture of reproductive well-being, an innovative framework centered on the belief that every person should have equitable access to the information, services, systems, and support they need to have control over their bodies, and to make their own decisions related to sexuality and reproduction throughout their lives. To learn more about this initiative and view our launch video, visit our Campus Sexual Health webpage ([link removed]) and follow us on Instagram @beyondthesheetshbcu ([link removed]) .

Our 11th Successful #ThxBirthControl Day

Thank you to everyone who participated in Thanks, Birth Control Day ([link removed]) this year! With the help of thousands nationwide, love for everything birth control spread across social media. Together we’ve told the world why birth control matters and why we love our methods. Check out highlights ([link removed]) from this year’s incredible celebration.

We would also like to thank our sponsors without whom #ThxBirthControl would not be possible: Bayer, the JPB Foundation, Plan B One-Step emergency contraception, Dipaola Foundation, and Mayne Pharma

Our Newest Power Player

We’re committed to uplifting the many individuals championing reproductive well-being. This month’s Power Player is Dr. Rachel Hardeman. Read her story ([link removed]) .
POLICY UPDATES

Federal Update

Government Funded Through the Beginning of 2024

On November 15, the House and Senate passed a continuing resolution (CR) — a stopgap measure to keep the government funded at current levels. The CR funds defense and security related appropriations through January 19, 2024, and domestic appropriations bills — including Labor, Health, and Human Services and Education (LHHS), which funds the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program and the Title X Family Planning Program — through February 2, 2024. It is important for constituents to continue to remind their members of Congress about the significance of these programs for our communities and urge members ([link removed]) to fully fund them.

State Update

Ohioans Voters Protect the Right to Abortion

On November 7, Ohioans voted ([link removed]) in favor of a ballot initiative ([link removed]) that will amend the state constitution to protect the right to abortion and other reproductive health decisions. The measure goes into effect on December 7, and makes Ohio the fourth state to vote to enshrine this constitutional protection since the fall of Roe.
THE POWER OF SUPPORTING

This winter, consider a truly impactful holiday gift by donating to Power to Decide. Join us in embracing the spirit of giving by supporting reproductive rights and fostering a future where all individuals have the power to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child.

Your generous contribution supports our mission to ensure access to comprehensive reproductive health services, education, and resources for all. You will help fund initiatives such as AbortionFinder and Bedsider, as well as our policy work, which continues to become even more critical.
