Hey John,
Today's the day! If you want to tell the Biden Administration to require insurance coverage of all birth control pills — those gotten with or without a prescription — you've got to request a toolkit here and submit your comment by 7pm eastern time.
The good news is your comment can be quite short. This is all in the toolkit, but your comment simply needs to make two points:
-
Prescription requirement is a barrier: Why has needing to get a prescription under the current system been a barrier to accessing birth control pills? No need for research, just tell your own story!
-
Cost is a barrier: If your insurance covered the full cost of birth control pills available on the shelves without a prescription, would this make it easier for you to afford them? Would you be more likely to use them?
If young people can't afford to buy birth control pills over-the-counter, then we've lost a hell of a lot of what we gained by getting rid of the prescription requirement in the first place.
Take action here before the 7pm deadline!
