BREAKING: ACC and NCAA tourneys canceled! But environmental scores for your members of Congress have just been announced. Check out the just-released LCV 2019 National Environmental Scorecard » [link removed]

John, if you opened this email to see how the Pack or Blue Devils were doing, you’re out of luck. But good news: LCV’s 2019 National Environmental Scorecard has just been released!

Knowing how our elected officials vote is core to a functioning democracy and protecting our planet. It’s the first step in what we call the cycle of accountability. LCV tallied last year’s most critical environmental votes in Congress, so you can know exactly how your senators and your representative voted on issues that impact our communities.

To make sure that North Carolina’s leaders step up to fight for us, it’s critical that dedicated advocates like you know how those leaders voted on our behalf. And it’s even more important we share that information with others.

Please spread the word on social media. Help others know their leaders’ scores by clicking the links below!

2019 was the second hottest year on record, and the stakes for our climate and our health have never been higher. But that didn’t seem to matter one bit to anti-environment leaders in Congress who catered to polluters at every opportunity throughout 2019. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to act on hundreds of pro-environment bills the House passed, letting them sit in his ever-growing legislative graveyard.

Helping McConnell obstruct progress every step of the way were Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr. They also voted in lockstep with President Trump, approving his Dirty Power Scam which worsens pollution and our climate crisis, and confirming his appointments of fossil fuel lobbyists Andrew Wheeler and David Bernhardt to lead key environmental agencies.

Despite the challenges, our environmental champions in Congress like Representatives Alma Adams, G.K. Butterfield, and David Price held their ground, and fought back every step of the way to protect our fundamental rights to clean air and safe drinking water.
