Cori and I both are leading with courage and moral clarity, no matter the price. Because we legislate for the people and not for corporate interests, right-wing billionaires and the super PACs they fund have put a target on our backs. On top of all of that, both of us are facing challengers this election year, who will have millions of dollars in support from pro-war interests that want to take us down.

Cori and I were proud to partner together on the Ceasefire Now resolution because it is the right thing to do, and the majority of Americans agree with that. We will not sit around and watch a humanitarian catastrophe unfold as a result of Israel's military campaign in Gaza; we will raise our voices and organize for the humanity of Palestinians and Israelis alike. We’ve made it clear over and over again: violations of human rights do not justify more violations of human rights. Killing innocent children and civilians will only exacerbate the violence we have seen, and do nothing to bring about a just and lasting peace. That’s why we urged an immediate end to the violence in the occupied Palestinian Territories and the release of all hostages.

Our call for peace unsettled pro-war groups like the billionaire Republican-funded super PAC, AIPAC, who have announced that they are going to spend $100 million against Cori, myself, and all those in Congress who called for an end to the bloodshed in Palestine. The pro-war fringe think that they can spend an endless amount of money to silence the majority of Americans who want this violence to end. All the money in the world will not stop Cori and I from standing up for our values. That’s what we were elected to do and that’s what we will continue to do, for our communities, our movement, our people.

Cori and I both don’t take a dime from corporate super PACs because we are both 100% accountable to the grassroots. And at moments like this, we need that grassroots support to show the ultra-rich that they cannot buy our democracy.
