John, there are two headlines from Florida I wanted to make sure you saw:
Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ rules could bleed into the workplace -- Fast Company
Florida’s new ‘don’t say gay’ bill targets LGBTQ groups, critics contend -- Orlando Sentinel
It's clear that the bigots who first proposed Florida's "Don't Say Gay" law always meant to expand the bill. They've used it to erase LGBTQ+ stories at all levels of education, target and harass LGBTQ+ teachers. Now, they're trying to expand this hateful bill into workspaces and increase workplace discrimination.
And if this tactic succeeds in Florida, bigots in other states will undoubtedly try to replicate the hate in their own states. "Don't Say Gay" wasn't a final bill - it was the start of a toxic wave.
LGBTQ+ elected officials and candidates in Florida (and across the U.S.!) are speaking out against hate. It's time to send them reinforcements. We NEED more LGBTQ+ people in the room to drown out these bigots and block their toxic legislation. Chip in today to beat bigots in Florida and elect LGBTQ+ leaders!
Thanks for standing us against hate,
Sarah LeDonne
