Fox News cuts away from live Trump rally coverage to correct "many untruths" and report the election "was NOT stolen"
In a move that predictably drew the rabid ire of Trump's MAGA minions, Fox News anchor Arthel Neville interrupted the network's coverage of the serially indicted ex-president's pep rally in Iowa to refute the "many untruths" he was hate-spewing from the stage. Seems the sting of that $787.5 million defamation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems is still fresh in the minds of Murdoch and Co. [RETWEET THAT!]

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump humiliates himself on stage at his own rally...again
The serially indicted ex-president once again dragged himself up on the grievance stage in Iowa and prattled on about, what else, the 2020 election, complaining about phantom fraud, mail-in ballots, early voting, and basically any votes that weren't cast for him. He then claimed that if Jesus would only come down from heaven and play referee, Donald himself would totally win statewide in California, Illinois, and New York. Got it.

Republicans salivate at the thought of stealing a battleground Senate seat
Bob Casey for Senate: Stung from their humiliating defeat in 2022, McConnell and his cronies have now set their sights on defeating Bob Casey and flipping the Senate back to red. Can you chip in to help re-elect Sen. Casey and protect our critical Senate majority?
US defense secretary says Israel at risk of "strategic defeat" if civilian lives in Gaza not protected
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin delivered perhaps his strongest remarks to date over Israel's need to protect civilians in Gaza in its war with Hamas and warned of the risks of their radicalization. Austin said he has personally pushed Israeli leaders to avoid civilian casualties, to shun "irresponsible rhetoric," and to prevent violence by settlers in the West Bank. "In this kind of a fight, the center of gravity is the civilian population. And if you drive them into the arms of the enemy, you replace a tactical victory with a strategic defeat." With the Palestinian death toll surging past 15,000 — more than two-thirds of them women and children — it's hard not to wonder if that line has already been crossed.
Donald Trump fires back at Liz Cheney with unexpected confession about eating
The Very Stable Genius of Mar-a-Lago™ took to Truth Social in the very reasonable wee hours of Monday to clap back at Liz Cheney and set the record straight about...his eating habits, of all things. In her new book, Cheney claimed Trump was depressed and not eating after his humiliating loss to Joe Biden in 2020, prompting an apparent well-check visit from Kevin McCarthy. Well, Trump was having none of that, thank you very much. The serially indicted ex-president thumb-smashed, "I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY, and it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much." Okay, Donnie. We believe you. This time.

Damning new details emerge in rape probe embroiling top GOP official, Moms for Liberty co-founder
New details made public over the weekend have added fresh fuel to the political firestorm surrounding the chair of the Republican Party of Florida, Christian Ziegler, and his wife Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of the far-right, virulently anti-LGBTQ Moms for Liberty, which engages in book-banning efforts, attacks on public education, religious moralizing, and the promotion of fascist ideology in chapters nationwide. After an unnamed longtime associate accused Christian Ziegler of rape last week, the emergence of a police search warrant and associated affidavit showed that the alleged victim said she had engaged in consensual three-way sexual relations with the Zieglers in the past but on the day of the assault, on Oct. 3, tried to call off the encounter because Bridget would not be there to participate. Aside from the seriousness of the damning rape allegations, it cannot go unstated that both Zieglers have railed against the LGBTQ community for years, often suggesting queer people are somehow deviant or morally problematic. Got that? Good.

Former US ambassador arrested in Florida, accused of serving as an agent of Cuba
Manuel Rocha, 73, a former American diplomat who served as US ambassador to Bolivia has been arrested in a long-running FBI counterintelligence investigation, accused of secretly serving as an agent of Cuba’s government. The Justice Department's case accuses Rocha of working to promote the Cuban government’s interests, but little more in the way of details has been made public thus far. Federal law requires people doing the political bidding of a foreign government or entity inside the US to register with the Justice Department, which in recent years has stepped up its criminal enforcement of illicit foreign lobbying.

Purdue Pharma, Sacklers' OxyContin settlement lands at the Supreme Court
The infamous opioid crisis comes to the Supreme Court Monday as the radical, right-wing court hears arguments in a challenge to the $8 billion bankruptcy deal meant to compensate victims of the highly addictive painkiller OxyContin while letting the Sackler family, who are responsible for more than 500,000 overdose deaths in America alone, walk away with billions to spare and immunity from any further liability. Friendly reminder — all three of the original Sackler brothers who bought Purdue and ultimately developed OxyContin were doctors. And six Sacklers sat on the board of the company, including the chairman Richard Sackler, who closely directed the firm's aggressive and deceptive marketing strategy insisting that OxyContin did not cause addiction. This criminal enterprise should lose every goddamn penny and the Sacklers locked up for their heinous crimes, but given the current makeup of the high court we won't be holding our breath.
