Hi John —
As our nation responds to the
coronavirus and its impact across our communities, I wanted to make
sure to put Tuesday’s email back at the top of your inbox.
Now more than ever, it’s important
that we continue to look out for our families and neighbors, that we
follow the directives of the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, and that we stay vigilant in our day-to-day
activities.
Likewise, all across the nation,
state and local officials, school districts and health departments are
taking steps they believe are necessary to reduce impacts and risks at
the local level. It's critical that we all pay attention and
cooperate.
We’ll get through this crisis by
working together.

Hey John —
Today, I want to talk about the
coronavirus. With newly confirmed cases occurring throughout the
nation, it’s important that we all have the most up to date
information.
Our state and our local governments
are working together with the NIH, the CDC, and hospitals across the
country to contain the virus and, if needed, to make sure that people
have access to diagnostic tests and treatment. But it’s
extremely important that we continue to listen to the public health
community and follow proper hygiene protocols and
procedures.
We all have a responsibility to
help contain the virus. That means that there are simple steps each of
us should be doing, including:
- Washing
your hands regularly (especially before eating, or after coughing or
sneezing),
- Staying
home if you are sick, and
- Disinfecting frequently touched objects with a household
cleaning spray.
If you experience symptoms of the
coronavirus, contact your primary care physician and
your local County Department of Health immediately. Additionally, you can visit the dedicated
Coronavirus website at the Centers for Disease Control for the latest
updates at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
I want to reiterate that while we
all feel anxious and overwhelmed by both the virus and the news
surrounding it, the threat to the general public remains low -- just
as long as we all stay vigilant, and we do our part to follow safe
virus prevention practices.
We’ll do everything we can to keep
you up to date on the latest developments.
Thanks,
Bill Weld
