Dear Reader,

I want to ask for your help. But let me tell you why I’m asking first.

I care about this region because I’m from here. It’s my home. After seeing the highs and lows of different eras and learning how decisions by leaders and powerful interests can shape the lives of ordinary people, I believe that community-focused accountability reporting has never been more important. I’ve seen the difference it makes in our region firsthand, and I hear about it when I talk with community members, too. As a native Pittsburgher, I often think about what might never come to light without PublicSource — or what else we could accomplish if we had the resources.

In 2023, PublicSource brought you Pittsburgh news that made a difference — covering disparities in Pittsburgh Public Schools, diving into the county executive race, monitoring the DEP response to incidents at the Shell plastics plant, investigating trends in sexual assaults on local college campuses and so much more.

As co-executive director, I’m lucky to see how intentional, methodical and creative our journalists are with every story. They are able to do this work thanks to generous supporters who donate to our nonprofit newsroom each year.

Until Dec. 31, a group of local and national supporters have pledged to match your donations to PublicSource, but we’re only 45% of the way to our goal.

I want to support this journalism. ([link removed])
When you start a donation of just $15/month, it will be matched x12, and you'll help ensure that this work continues.

Hitting our fundraising goal will power the incredible journalism that you’ve come to rely on as we head into 2024, a year of new leadership in Allegheny County, which could be a critical bellwether in the national election.

Will you help us fill the gap, maximize our match and report for you during this pivotal year?
Yes, match my gift. ([link removed])
Thank you,
Jennie Liska
Co-Executive Director
Proud PublicSource member
P.S. We have the opportunity to earn a bonus for new donors. If you’ve never supported this work, now is your chance to make your gift really count! We need 64 new donors to earn the bonus. Will you be one of them? ([link removed])
