The New York Times: Opinion | We’re Finally Winning the Fight Against Conversion Therapy

Hi Friend,

At The Trevor Project, I lead an Advocacy team that has been working hard to educate policymakers across the country about the harms of conversion therapy, as well as the negative mental health outcomes from legislation targeting best-practice medical care for transgender youth.

The New York Times just published my op-ed about the states leading the charge to protect LGBTQ youth, and how The Trevor Project and our peer organizations are actively opposing bills harmful to transgender young people. In these unsure times, it’s rare that we get to read news as great as this! I’d love for you to read about our work with coalitions to elevate the voices of LGBTQ experiences, including conversion therapy survivors and mental health professionals, to save more LGBTQ young lives and ensure they know we will fight for them in every state.

LGBTQ young people deserve to know they are seen, that their experiences are valid, and that their lives are valuable. And I personally want LGBTQ youth to know that they are never alone, because we are here to fight for their protections in state capitols everywhere, and support them in moments of crisis 24/7.
