Yesterday, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, and today the first confirmed case appeared in TX-24. These are obviously trying times for all of us, but we need to remain calm, vigilant, and focused on stopping the spread of this virus. President Trump has once again proven his inability to lead the American people during a crisis. He’s been more focused on the DOW Jones and not the Jones family because all he can think about is his reelection.

He’s spread outright lies, downplayed the seriousness of the virus, and made it clear that he’s more focused on the optics of the situation than keeping Americans safe.

Now look Jack xxxxxx, I’ve made tough decisions. I’ve been in combat zones, and I’ve made choices that saved American lives. I know the pressure of a true crisis, and I’m ready to step up on day one and take charge.

Congress must pass targeted assistance to help curb the effects of Coronavirus and ensure our most vulnerable populations are not put in more danger. This means paid sick leave for all employees, protections for health workers, and free testing for all Americans.

Here in Texas, there are nearly three million people in North Texas without health insurance. We need to make sure all Texans have access to healthcare right now.

We can get control of this crisis, but we must act right now.

This is a time for strong leadership, clear communication, and unity.
