Holding the CFPB Accountable  

This week, the House Financial Services Committee hosted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Rohit Chopra for a semi-annual report. The CFPB lacks transparency and its highly partisan actions are not in the best interest of small business.

Overturning the CFPB's Damaging Small Business Data Collection Rule 

This week, the House passed Senate Joint Resolution 32 to overturn the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s small business data collection rule, which would burden small businesses with unnecessary red tape and stifle economic growth in our communities.

 This rule exceeds the CFPB’s statutory authority and only served to facilitate leftist activism against legal business practices that do not conform to this administration’s progressive world view.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Gastonia Mayor Walker Reid. A dedicated public servant, he demonstrated the best of Gastonia and the community I grew up in. I am praying for his family and friends as they grieve this loss.
