Help fight COVID-19
Dear Friend,
As you may have heard, the World Health Organization recently called the new coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic. The virus has now spread to over 100 countries.
To meet the demands of this rapidly developing crisis, our team has provided 5 million face masks, 20 defibrillators and other aid to hospitals at the epicenter of the outbreak in China. In the coming days, we are delivering more personal protective gear to safeguard health workers, as well as ventilators to help patients breathe and disinfection machines to help stop the virus from spreading.
But, with over 120,000 people now infected and over 4,300 killed, we must do more to save lives and protect health workers.
Project HOPE is intensifying our efforts by partnering with health ministries to create coronavirus response plans. This includes training vulnerable doctors, nurses and volunteers in high-risk countries so they don’t get infected or spread COVID-19 while caring for those who are ill.

Your emergency support today can help expand our work to prepare health workers and build a global response to the COVID-19 threat — while continuing to respond to other disasters and health crises around the world.
In Macedonia, where the quarantine of medical workers has forced hospitals to close, we are working with partners to quickly develop training curriculum for health workers to reduce their risk of exposure and ensure they can continue to care for their communities.
In Ethiopia, we are exploring how to adapt the digital tools we provided to health workers to monitor cases of HIV to also track the spread of COVID-19. And in other countries with fragile health systems like Puerto Rico, Colombia and Nigeria, we’re working with our teams on the ground to detect, contain and respond to the threat of coronavirus.
