In just a minute, I'm going to ask you to add a donation to my campaign for U.S. Senate before our mid-month deadline on Sunday. But first, I owe you an explanation.

I'm not your typical politician.

Back in the mid-1980s, I was laid off for 27 months as a geologist. Then, I mustered every scrap of savings in my bank account and took a gamble on opening my own business, a brewpub in downtown Denver (our flagship brew was the Light Rail Ale).

After realizing our government didn't work for everyday folks like me, I ran for mayor and eventually governor. We created jobs here in Colorado and brought people from all walks of life together to get things done that mattered.

But now, Republican Senator Cory Gardner is failing Colorado. He won't stand up to his party bosses and votes in lockstep with Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell. It's time we replace him with the leadership Colorado deserves.

You see, my opponent is the most vulnerable Republican Senator in the country, but he's also backed by Mitch McConnell's network of right-wing billionaire donors who will do everything they can to tear us down.
