John,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
This week, I joined Newsmax’s “Newsline” to discuss the rising crime issues nationwide. Prosecutors in big cities should hardly be called prosecutors because they allow crime to go unpunished. In our nation’s Capital, 56% of all arrests have gone unprosecuted this year, and it’s emboldening violent criminals. Residents and visitors of Washington, DC and other cities across the country are paying the price for the Left’s ideology of appeasement. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch my interview.

Later this evening, I will be on Fox News at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the attacks on U.S. forces in the Middle East. Tune in by clicking here <[link removed]>.
This week, the first part of my interview on"The Volpe Report" aired on Fox56. We covered several hot topics, including the election of Speaker Mike Johnson, passing conservative appropriations bills, rising inflation caused by Bidenomics, and the Biden Family’s pay-to-play scheme. Additionally, I appeared on "Fox Across America with Rich Zeoli" on Fox News Radio <[link removed][0]=AZUh18oJkpeLzExUs3PYI2rbcgINez0OGK87BenKbBwGZCiyuzG-Nnpop5K_SYVe2cUvjXP00vrIqBamtO9TqDMI5jDXPd0pABb3Wg3kn7ZlKy-dtn-_rYwHSAwFjAqiCrDBuQmGhrIBIE0r7dL2mZT54RNq76PzcNMHDHV3CO6UnPHR-LskXQr_anY__7pqDxo&__tn__=-]K-R>. We covered several hot topics, including the appropriations process, the unmitigated disaster at our southern border, rising crime in our big cities, and the expulsion of George Santos from Congress. Speaking of the border, Biden's open border agenda has created a dangerous and deadly national security disaster. As this situation continues to worsen, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas issued a memo ordering Customs and Border Patrol to ask illegals what pronoun they prefer…. absurd, sick, outrageous. Impeach.
This is just another reminder of one of the many but very important reasons we must re-elect President Donald J. Trump. President Trump's policies worked to secure the border by implementing multiple strategies. He worked to build the wall, negotiated with Mexico to implement the Remain in Mexico program and made it known to the world that those who wanted to enter our nation must go through the immigration process legally. I will be working hard to ensure that we re-elect President Donald J. Trump by delivering Pennsylvania to the GOP side. We must win back the White House and the U.S. Senate and expand our majority in the U.S. House. It's time to get our country back to winning again!
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) <[link removed][0]=AZXraEYQYmK9I8mxX_470qRqoOeaeNMB5V0rbqGKkzfIJwzAGKuYlUjCO76O1HGhdgMVJHYDrA5qEg4cQHQINCHm1IP26cibZtAy0uV6tKT9uBM8bxfNY-22GL_Wpz-PPiN9oaS4BFst_HtTswzgpTAhwseSskxd0P18JKZ5sNQtEepqMFMRpAZnY2S0PYv7E8E&__tn__=-]K-R>’s 1071 rule is an outrageous overreach. While the CFPB’s mission is to make consumer financial markets work for consumers, responsible providers, and the economy as a whole, they are knowingly making it harder for small businesses to operate in a challenging economy. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch me question Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Rohit Chopra at a recent meeting of the House Finance Committee.

Later, I addressed this issue on the floor of the United States House. The CFPB’s 1071 rule would require excessive data collection from small businesses, the strength of our economy. Small businesses are facing relentless inflation due to Bidenomics; now is not the time to burden them with even more costs. Section 1071 explicitly says, “Any applicant for credit may refuse to provide any information requested pursuant to subsection (b) in connection with any application for credit.” Despite this clarity, the Director of the CFPB has stated, “a low response rate to the 1071 rule may indicate a failure to comply.”
If the law guarantees an applicant’s right to refuse, then penalizing non-compliance based on low response rates contradicts the statute's intent. This calls into question the CFPB's interpretation of the statute and is major overreach of its authority. I am deeply concerned about the real impact this rule will have on small businesses and lenders in my district and across the country, and that is why I voted to reverse it. Biden and Congress must stand with small business. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch my remarks.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Americans everywhere know that under “Bidenomics,” you pay more and get less.
But what do those price increases mean in terms of dollars and cents? Congress’s Joint Economic Committee <[link removed]> has an answer. JEC estimates that Bidenflation cost the average American family $953 in October alone and will cost the average American family $11,434 over the next 12 months.
But what about since Biden took office? JEC estimates that families have lost over $18,860 paying for the increased cost of living under “Bidenomics.” Those increases are felt across the board.
Here’s the money Americans have lost paying higher:
- Energy costs: $3,626
- Food costs: $2,512
- Shelter costs: $2,937
- Transportation costs: $7,139
The next time Biden brags about “Bidenomics” or insists his plan is “working,” remember that “Bidenomics” has cost the average American family $18,860.
Around the District:
Last Saturday, we participated in Small Business Saturday to support local businesses. Small businesses are the strength of our economy, innovation, and job creation. They are at the center of our communities and employ 70% of our District’s workforce.
As someone who spent 20-plus years in the private sector helping grow a small business into a large business, I have a deep appreciation for the challenges facing entrepreneurs. As a member of the House Small Business Committee, I will continue fighting for pro-growth policies that help small businesses thrive.
Last but not least, as we rapidly move through the Christmas and holiday season, I can't help but think of the important missions we must accomplish next year in Pennsylvania. First, we must re-elect President Donald J. Trump. We must elect Dave McCormick to the U.S. Senate. We must expand our majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, maintain our majority in the State Senate and win back control of the State House. Additionally, we must re-elect our great State Treasurer Stacy Garrity and our Auditor General Tim DeFoor.
We also have an important election for the Attorney General. This week, I endorsed Dave Sunday for Attorney General. Dave will be a great Attorney General and has my full support. He understands that our Commonwealth's future hinges on the government's ability to provide safe streets and communities.
We attended the annual Pennsylvania Society events in New York City this weekend. Shelley and I attended several great events and the annual dinner on Saturday night. (Shelley and I pictured below with Chuck Volpe, Pennsylvania Society President Elizabeth Preate Havey, Leo Vergnetti, and GOP congressional candidate Rob Bresnahan)
We look forward to catching up with you next week. God Bless, and see you soon,
Dan Meuser
