In the last year, 169 people on the FBI terror watchlist were encountered between ports of entry at the southern border – more than the past 6 fiscal years combined. Additionally, there were more than 23,000 known gotaways and over 240,000 encounters in October.

Rather than taking meaningful action to stifle the flow of illegal immigration, like signing House Republicans' Secure the Border Act into law, President Biden and Democrats are housing immigrants in national parks and on federal lands.

House Republicans passed H.R. 5283, the Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act of 2023, which would prohibit federal funds from being used to provide housing to illegal immigrants on federal lands.

No Funds for Iranian Terrorism

Additionally, the House passed H.R. 5961, the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act, with my support. In September 2023, the Biden Administration allowed $6 billion in Iranian funds to be unfrozen, waiving sanctions in exchange for the freedom of five Americans.

Make no mistake about it, securing freedom for Americans being held hostage by our adversaries is of the utmost importance, but releasing $6 billion to the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism was another deadly Biden foreign policy failure—as we've seen Iran-funded proxies wage attacks on Israel, as well as American assets in the Middle East.

H.R. 5961, the toughest sanctions bill on Iran that has ever passed the House, permanently freezes funds so they are off limits to the Iranian regime.

“Oversight of President Biden's Broadband Takeover” 

The Subcommittee on Communications and Technology held an oversight hearing to ensure the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which oversees broadband deployment, is being a good steward of taxpayer dollars. With many rural communities still lacking access to high-speed internet, we will continue to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its burdensome regulations that are increasing costs and hampering connectivity.

"America Leads the Way: Our History as the Global Leader at Reducing Emissions"

We should not be reliant on China or Russia to fulfill our energy needs. I spoke in this week's Environment subcommittee hearing about the importance of unleashing domestic energy production—including our nuclear capabilities as seen at Plant Vogtle—so we can reclaim American energy dominance.

Georgia's pro-growth polices, like our right-to-work laws, are a major contributor to our status as the number one state to do business for 10 years running. These laws not only provide workers with the freedom to choose how they spend their hard-earned paychecks, but also attract private industry to our state—resulting in more jobs for Georgians. I asked our witnesses about why right-to-work states are attracting employers, as well as President Biden's and Democrat's destructive pro union boss agenda.
