ACTION SPOTLIGHT

2X MATCH: Fight for Our Environment

The threats
we’re facing today are bigger than ever. We’ve got plans in 2024
to stop new Arctic drilling, protect public lands, battle
corporations that pollute our air and water, help save threatened
wildlife, fight the climate crisis… and so much more.

The amount of work we can take on and
how hard we can fight next year rests on how much we raise this
December. Please support our fight for the environment by making
a year-end donation today and it will be 2x MATCHED, up to
$750,000! ( [link removed] )

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

BREAKING NEWS: Lead Pipes Must Be Removed
Under EPA’s Proposed Water Rule!

Just this week, a new rule proposed by
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets the stage for
every lead water pipe in the nation to be replaced — with the
vast majority expected to be removed in the next 10 years.

Lead-contaminated drinking water has
disproportionately burdened low-income communities of color like
Flint, Michigan, and Newark, New Jersey, whose water crises made
it impossible to ignore the reality of unequal access to safe
water. More than 9 million homes nationwide are served by a lead
water pipe — now is the time to end this public health crisis.

This Lead and Copper Rule will effectively end the practice of
supplying drinking water to homes through toxic lead pipes that
have threatened the health and well-being of families in all 50
states for more than a century.

We’ll keep you updated on how to get
involved in the coming weeks — for now, read more about this ray
of hope to help provide safe drinking water nationwide. ( [link removed] )

BIG WINS

* The Successful United Auto Workers
(UAW) Strike Portends a Successful EV Transition: With the UAW
contract in hand, autoworkers can get long-overdue pay hikes
while automakers continue to make the investments they need to
make in building electric vehicles. These historic gains for
union workers signal that they will be a key part of the
industry’s shift to cleaner vehicles. Read more > ( [link removed] )

* The Department of Transportation (DOT) is Putting
Transportation on the Right Track: DOT released a new rule that
will require states to measure greenhouse gas pollution from
highway systems and set targets to lower those emissions,
helping to fight the climate crisis and deliver a cleaner
transportation system. Read more > ( [link removed] )

Three new measures will provide significant climate, public
health, air quality, and economic benefits to New Mexico and

STORYTELLER SPOTLIGHT

Electric vs. Gas Cars: Is It Cheaper to
Drive an Electric Vehicle (EV)?:

Chances are, yes — between automakers
slashing prices for EVs in the past year as well as federal
incentives for eligible buyers, you may even be able to score a
bargain up front. Dive into the details to learn about the
potential financial benefits of buying an EV, on top of the
climate and air quality reasons. Read more > ( [link removed] )

ACTION ROUNDUP

* Protect the Arctic from
ConocoPhillips’ Brazen New Fossil Fuel Expansion Plan: ( [link removed] ) The climate-busting Willow Project is looking more likely to
be the launching pad for even more drilling across the Arctic —
and we must stop this new dangerous plan. Take action by the Dec.

* Stand With Standing Rock: Demand a Fair Environmental Review of
the Dakota Access Pipeline: ( [link removed] ) Each day the pipeline continues to operate, it violates
Indigenous sovereignty and treaty rights, and poses a constant
threat to crucial water sources. Submit a public comment to the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers now. Take action by the Dec. 13
comment deadline > ( [link removed] )
* Protect Critically Endangered Rice’s Whales from Offshore
Drilling: ( [link removed] ) There are fewer than 100 critically endangered Rice’s whales
left in existence. Their narrow strip of habitat in the Gulf of
Mexico is in the crosshairs of the oil and gas industry, and we
must act now to stop the government from selling off our oceans.
