Friend, our clocks moved forward this past weekend – and our progress for Canadians is moving forward fast as well. Here are a few quick updates!

1 MILLION CANADIANS LIFTED OUT OF POVERTY SINCE 2015

The Liberal team is committed to making sure every Canadian can reach their full potential. By giving families the tools they need to succeed, with programs like the Canada Child Benefit, the poverty rate hit its lowest in Canadian history.

That means we met and exceeded our 2020 target of reducing poverty by 20%, three years ahead of schedule! There’s much more to do, and we’ll keep working to ensure that every Canadian has a real and fair chance at success.

STANDING UP FOR LGBTQ2 CANADIANS

This week, the Liberal team tabled legislation to ban the harmful practice of conversion therapy so that all Canadians, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can continue to live the life they want, love whom they choose, and feel safe in our communities.

Our Liberal team has always been clear that our diversity makes Canada stronger. Justin Trudeau recently visited a citizenship swearing-in ceremony in Nova Scotia to welcome the newest members of the Canadian family, and to celebrate our commitment to diversity over division.

Ratifying the new NAFTA

The legislation to ratify the new NAFTA is moving on to the final stage of debate in the House of Commons. It’s a progressive free trade agreement that will safeguard thousands of Canadian jobs and help Canadian businesses grow and thrive.
