Winnie's story is too common. In a just world, this wouldn't happen.

Hi John,

We're resharing something you may have missed earlier this week...

Hi John,

Being a teen mum in Kenya can be really hard.

When Winnie (pictured above) became pregnant as a teenager, her mum abused her and told her to leave the family home.

But her friend told her about Polycom Development Project- a grassroots organisation supporting teen mums in the Kibera informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya. Polycom supported her with food, clothing, and everything else she needed at that crucial time in her life.

After the birth of her son, Polycom supported Winnie to resume her education. She now works on Saturday with a local charity to bring in a small income for herself and her son. She hopes one day to become a journalist.

"Polycom became like my parents...
they have shown me you don’t have to rush to marry.
I can tell other girls ‘I did this and you too can do this!’"

- Winnie

Winnie grabbed the opportunities that Polycom provided and ran with them. Her story could be one of so many.

John, will you stand with Winnie and other teenage mums? We’ve still got 63% of our Big Give target for Polycom to raise by next Tuesday! All donations will be DOUBLED and will go directly to supporting teenage mothers in Kenya like Winnie. Chip in now. ([link removed])
I'll chip in £25 (doubled to £50) ([link removed])
I'll chip in £50 (doubled to £100) ([link removed])
I'll chip in another amount ([link removed])

As Winnie says, Polycom “were the first people to really understand me. They helped me to build my own self esteem”.

Let’s make sure as many young mothers in Kenya have the same experience.

If enough people reading this email donate, 15 other young mums, in a city where need is especially high and services scarce, will be offered training and mentorship. It’ll support them to be financially independent, develop new vocational skills, and better understand their rights.

In a just world, young women like Winnie wouldn’t struggle to find the support they deserve. But we can put our values into action and work towards that world now.  Chip in before the end of our Big Give deadline in 2 days ([link removed]) .

Thank you for your ongoing support for women’s rights.
