John,

Earlier this week, my friend Governor Steve Bullock announced he will run for Senate. This is great news for Montana and for our country, but we need to make sure down-ballot races aren’t forgotten.

Sunday is a critical fundraising deadline. These numbers can make or break a race. Now is not the time to lose sight of the importance of the state superintendent race.

The state superintendent has one of the most important jobs in Montana: shaping the future of the state by ensuring all our children receive a quality education.

Melissa is an award-winning elementary school math teacher and a recognized leader in her field, earning distinction as the 2018 Montana Teacher of the Year. As a public school teacher of 16 years, she understands how the decisions our elected officials make impact our children’s classrooms.

She is the fierce leader Montana needs. She is the fierce leader Montana students deserve. It's critically important that we pay attention to Melissa's campaign, especially during a presidential year, when down-ballot state races are often overshadowed.

In 2008 and again in 2012, Montanans helped me cross the finish line to become your state superintendent, but it wasn’t easy, and Melissa’s race will be no different. She is up for the challenge but needs your help.

Thank you for your help returning real leadership to the Office of Public Instruction and helping us boldly forge a path to a brighter future for our children.

Denise Juneau
