John –

When folks ask me if they should run for office, I always ask them:

"Why would you want to?"

The question catches a lot of people off guard – after all, it seems like a question I should know the answer to. But here's why I ask: because fundamentally, there's only one answer to that question that means you should run for office:

"To serve my community."

Earlier this year, as I was deciding whether to run for reelection I took a long look in the mirror and asked myself the same question. That moment confirmed two things for me:

  1. I was ready to run for a second term as Washington's Lieutenant Governor.
  2. I talk to myself a lot. Out loud.

As we prepare to head into the next legislative session, I will have to hit the pause button on our campaign, and it can't restart until the end of the legislative session in March.

That means this is our last week to build our campaign and grow our momentum. Can you chip in today to make sure we hit the ground running when the session is over?

You might not have noticed, but the legislature has been getting a lot done, John.

From the Year of Housing to leading the fight against climate change, we've made some of the hard choices necessary to secure our shared future.

I'm running for a second term because there's still a lot to do to ensure Washingtonians have affordable housing, good paying jobs, clean air and water, and to give every family a fair shot.

I am in this race to serve Washington communities, but I can't do it alone. So, with the impending pause of our reelection campaign, can I count on you to power our campaign through the legislative session and beyond?

Proud to be on this team with you,

Denny
