VIDEO OF THE DAY: Gloves off: Pete Buttigieg finally shuts down Lauren Boebert
Lauren Boebert and other clueless, loud-mouthed MAGA Republicans love to score points with their base by railing against the evils of Democratic policies... right up until the point those policies prove to be incredibly successful. Then it's time for everyone from Boebert to Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson to take credit for the very "garbage" they opposed. That's exactly what is happening with President Biden's landmark infrastructure law that is revitalizing communities and putting Americans to work nationwide. Biden and Secretary Mayor Pete aren't letting them get away with it. Both pulled out receipts and no punches in exposing the devious hypocrisy of Republicans' spin machine. BTC breaks it down.

Trump suffers double defeats in two massive court rulings
Two separate courts obliterated a pair of the disgraced ex-president’s desperate pseudo-constitutional theories contrived to evade accountability for his role in the conspiracy to steal the 2020 election from Joe Biden, including the January 6th insurrection he incited. First, a 3-judge federal appeals court panel ruled that Trump can indeed be held liable in any future civil lawsuits that may follow his upcoming criminal trials. Then, later in the day, Judge Tanya Chutkan, who’s presiding over the federal indictment brought by Jack Smith, ruled definitively that the constitution – newsflash – does NOT grant Trump blanket immunity from prosecution under either Article II or the First Amendment as he and his minions continue to insist. "Defendant's four-year service as Commander in Chief did not bestow on him the divine right of kings to evade the criminal accountability that governs his fellow citizens,” Judge Chutkan wrote. Yes, and the sky is blue, water is wet, and vaccines work.

Sandra Day O’Connor, first woman on Supreme Court, dies at 93
Former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor passed away Friday due to complications related to dementia. As the first female on the high court in U.S. history, Justice O’Connor inspired generations of female lawyers and jurists, including the five women who followed her onto the Supreme Court. A Reagan appointee, she broke ranks with her fellow conservative justices in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, a 1992 opinion that reaffirmed a woman’s right to an abortion and ruled that a state could not impose an “undue burden” on a woman seeking an abortion – the very ruling overturned in 2022 by her radical right-wing successors. She also cast the deciding vote in 2000 that secured the presidency for George W. Bush over Al Gore.

Israel knew Hamas attack was in the works for over a year
An absolute bombshell from the New York Times revealed that Israeli military officials obtained and translated a 40-page battle plan which they called "Jericho Wall" as early as fall 2022. The plan set out a hypothetical attack by Hamas on communities in southern Israel and detailed shockingly similar tactics to those used in the eventual October 7th attack, including deploying rockets and drones in a combined assault, as well as the intent to capture Israeli citizen hostages. This is just the latest evidence that Israeli and Palestinian civilians have something very important in common: As much as the other side is viewed as the enemy, they're own leaders are quite literally killing them too.

GOP speaker wrote foreword for a racist, homophobic, anti-poor book
In his 2022 book entitled “The Revivalist Manifesto: How Patriots Can Win the Next American Era,” radical right-wing writer Scott McKay wrote, among other things, that poor voters are “unsophisticated and susceptible to government dependency;” that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was the “queer choice” for that cabinet post and refers to him as “Gay Mayor Pete Buttigieg;” that the Biden administration purposely let undocumented immigrants into the US to vote for Democrats; and that President Barack Obama’s chief selling point was that “he was black.” Despite writing a glowing forward for the book, Speaker Johnson now claims he wasn’t aware those passages were in it. Again we’re confronted with a question about who to believe over racist, homophobic, anti-American statements made by Mike Johnson… the Mike Johnson who said or endorsed them, or the Mike Johnson who now insists he didn’t mean them?

Democrats celebrate as 600K more North Carolinians now eligible for Medicaid
North Carolina’s Medicaid expansion finally went into effect Friday, with hundreds of thousands of people in the state expected to be automatically qualified and enrolled. Medicaid expansion was authorized in 2010 as part of the landmark Democrat-passed Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare. The ACA extended medical coverage to millions of Americans in part by expanding funding for state-controlled Medicaid programs, but Republicans were able to delay or outright deny its implementation in states they controlled. After North Carolina elected Democratic governor Roy Cooper in 2020, however, the Republican blockade in the state was doomed.

Corporate jagoffs have no place in Congress
Chris Deluzio for Congress: Chris is running for reelection in one of the most competitive districts in the nation. His GOP extremist opponents have sided with corporate jagoffs over the American people. We can't let them win. Will you chip in today to flip the House blue and get America back on track?
House vote on Biden impeachment inquiry looms as early as next week
George Santos has been expelled, new Speaker Mike Johnson’s past continues to haunt him, and 2024 Republican front runner Donald Trump continues to hurdle himself and his party toward legal and political disaster in the looming election-year trials for his attempt to steal the 2020 election from Joe Biden. Seems like the perfect time for another Benghazi to distract their voters! Ex-speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the impeachment inquiry in a vain, 11th-hour attempt to appease the hardliners in his party who ended up ousting him anyway, and now his successor appears poised to bring the inquiry plan to a vote despite a complete lack of evidence of wrong doing by the president.
Appeals court orders Texas to remove floating river barrier at Mexico border
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with a lower court decision in September ordering the deadly, inhumane, razor wire-laced floating barrier state officials had installed along large stretches of the Rio Grande despite objections by federal agencies, the White House, and human rights groups. Lone Star State Governor Greg Abbott called the original ruling "incorrect" and this most recent decision “clearly wrong,” but it’s clear now the only one whose been incorrect and clearly wrong from the beginning is Gov. Abbott.

NOTE: We've had a lot of fun with George Santos this year. A LOT of fun. We've showered him with scores of imaginary accolades and are sad to put the practice to bed even if we don't much care if the door hits him on the way out. But please note that every preposterous credit mentioned in Senator Klobuchar's tweet is an actual claim from Santos in the last year. Truly a remarkable tenure.
