I’ll be honest, John, in a minute I’m going to ask you to add a donation to my campaign before our mid-month deadline on Monday. But first, I want to explain why your donation and this race are so important.

My opponent, Republican Thom Tillis, is too weak to stand up for North Carolina. Time and again, he sides with his party bosses, special interests, and big corporate donors over the hard-working people of our state. And I’ve just about had it.

Look, we’re in a very strong position to win this election and flip North Carolina’s Senate seat. Recent polls show us ahead and Tillis’ approval rating is dropping by the day.

But the truth is: Mitch McConnell and his network of wealthy donors and super PACs will spend outrageous sums of money to defeat us. They’ve already poured in $3 million to meddle in our election — and they’ll have over $200 million more to pull from at a moment’s notice.

I hate to say it, John, but I’ve seen big money buy too many elections in North Carolina.

So, here’s my message to Thom Tillis, Mitch McConnell, and anyone else who thinks they can just buy this Senate seat out from under us — we’re coming for you.

If you’re with me, I’m asking you to add a contribution to our campaign for U.S. Senate now. Every dollar makes a difference before our critical mid-month deadline next week. I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.

You know it. We know it. McConnell knows it: Thom Tillis is in trouble and our race is one of the Democrats’ best shots at flipping a Republican-held seat and taking back the Senate majority.

That’s why Washington Republicans are resorting to dirty tricks and shady tactics to swing this election. They think that by flooding our state with outrageous sums of money, they can pull a fast one on us.

Now’s our chance to prove them wrong.
