New Dem National Security Task Force Chair Statement on Senator Tuberville Lifting Hold on Some Military Nominations, Calls for all Holds to Be Lifted
Today, New Democrat Coalition National Security Task Force Chair Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) released the following statement after Senator Tommy Tuberville indicated ([link removed]) he would lift his hold on top military nominations:
“For nearly a year, Senator Tuberville’s blockade of high-level military promotions has prevented more than 350 dedicated military officers from filling key leadership positions that are essential to our national security and military readiness. His reckless and irresponsible political stunt has put Americans at risk, all in the name of curtailing the reproductive rights of servicemembers and their families.
“While Sen. Tuberville’s statements yesterday indicate a willingness to partially end his blockade, anything short of a complete lift of his hold on nominations will continue to destabilize our military in a time when our adversaries are threatening global security.
“New Dems urge Sen. Tuberville to end his use of American national security and career military officers as pawns to push his extremist far-right policy positions.”
