Dear John,

The President’s ridiculous speech last night and dangerously out of touch remarks today make it clear that he cannot lead the nation through the emerging COVID-19 crisis. As we wrote earlier this week, the decision by Mitch McConnell to keep Donald Trump in office will go down in history as one of the worst ever made by a prominent American politician.

It is critical now that the Senate and House overcome their differences and learn how to lead us through what will be tough days ahead. Please consider calling your federal representatives today and demand that before recessing they do two things:

1) Ensure that there is a national testing plan in place.

2) Come together around some version of the economic plan that the House Democrats have proposed.

We know that delay will cause many more to die and make the economic fallout far worse. This is not a time for inaction, but instead for bold, American-style leadership and action.

Call your representatives today and demand that they stay in town until we know that our testing regime is working and a real national plan has been adopted.
