Governor Walz Celebrates Mayo Clinic?s $5 Billion Expansion in Rochester

This week, Governor Tim Walz celebrated Mayo Clinic?s $5 billion expansion in Rochester.?

*?Minnesota has long been an internationally recognized hub for academic medicine, research, and cutting-edge medical technology. Now, Mayo Clinic is making a multi-billion dollar investment to build on that foundation,?*?said Governor Walz.?*?I applaud Mayo Clinic for investing in Minnesota, ushering in the next generation of health care innovation, and ensuring Minnesotans have access to the best possible services and care.?*

The expansion includes 2.4 million square feet of new building space, adding state-of-the-art spaces and technology to improve health care delivery and bolstering economic growth in Rochester. The $5 billion investment is estimated to support 6,000 new jobs and generate an additional $2 billion in economic output.

Governor Walz Becomes First Governor in State History to Visit All 11 Tribal Nations in Minnesota

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community this week, making Governor Walz the first Minnesota Governor to visit all 11 Tribal nations in Minnesota. During their visit, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor met with Chairman Keith Anderson and Secretary and Treasurer Rebecca Crooks-Stratton to learn about Tribal priorities.?

*?No Governor in the history of our state has visited all 11 Tribal nations. Today that changed,? *said Governor Walz.* ?I am incredibly proud to reach this milestone on the final day of Native American Heritage month. By learning from and working hand-in-hand with Tribal governments, we?ll continue building a state government that works better for everyone and ensures Minnesota is a place where Tribal nations and their citizens can thrive.?*

*?Since we took office, our administration has been committed to strengthening relationships with all 11 Tribal nations in Minnesota. By traveling to Tribal lands and meeting with the 11 Tribal governments, we?ve put those words into action,? *said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.?*?The Tribal nations are our partners, and these visits are part of ensuring that our relationship with each individual Tribal nation respects their independent self-governance. This is a big deal, and I?m proud to celebrate this milestone, but this isn?t the end of our work. Governor Walz Highlights New Efforts to Simplify Vehicle Tab Removal

On Tuesday, Governor Tim Walz visited a DVS Now Kiosk in Rochester to highlight a new effort to make it easier for Minnesotans to renew their vehicle tabs. Minnesotans can now pick up their vehicle tabs at stand-alone kiosks in eight new Cub locations.

*"We all know that renewing our tabs is one of those tasks we?d like to put off until the last minute,"?*said Governor Walz. *"We?re making this process easier and faster than ever with new DVS Now kiosks where you can renew your tabs in a matter of minutes during a trip to the grocery store."*

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan proclaimed Saturday, November 25, Small Business Saturday in the State of Minnesota. This day highlights the importance of small businesses to our communities and encourages?consumers to shop small and support their local small businesses.?

*"Our state is home to 500,000+ small businesses, which employ three out of every four Minnesotans,*" said Governor Walz. *"Your support is a direct investment in our communities and economy."*

On Tuesday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan welcomed a Minnesota-grown 21-foot fir tree to the Capitol.?

*"It?s beginning to look like Christmas at the Capitol,"* said Governor Walz. *"Excited to see a home-grown, Minnesota tree from Happy Land Tree Farm in Sandstone, Minnesota!"*

*"We?re getting in the holiday spirit here at the State Capitol! This beautiful Christmas tree comes from a local grower in Minnesota ? and the same grower supplied the tree at the Vice President'**s residence in Washington, D.C."?*said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.
