This week, I reintroduced my Stronger Schools Act, which authorizes the Secretary of Education to make grants available to local educational agencies for physical improvements at the elementary schools and secondary schools they serve. For educational agencies receiving a grant, the funds must be used to ensure that the school hires a school resource officer who carries a firearm and establishes a single point of entry that has metal detectors and bulletproof windows. 

Our students must feel safe when they go to school, and parents must feel secure that their child will be protected.

This week, I joined Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo to discuss record-breaking crime in our major cities, the Tucson border sector limiting social media updates in order to focus its attention on the migrant crisis, and Governor Murphy signing a new rule to phase out gas-powered vehicles in New Jersey.

This week, I questioned legislative affairs officials in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of State, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on what steps the department is taking to ensure that it complies with the Judiciary Committee's document requests and subpoenas.

Subpoena compliance by agencies is critical to the House Judiciary Committee's mission of holding government bureaucracy accountable. When agencies delay sending subpoenaed documents, it hinders Congress's ability to fulfill its duties.

This week, I was honored to preside over the floor during opening prayer as Speaker Pro Tempore. 

I always appreciate the opportunity to lead the House of Representatives, facilitating important debates on legislation aimed at furthering the interests of the American people.

This week, I gave remarks on the importance of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William J. Hughes Technical Center being permanently based in South Jersey during a House Transportation & Infrastructure Aviation Subcommittee hearing.

It is absolutely imperative that the Senate take up the FAA Reauthorization bill already passed by the House. The FAA Technical Center is critically important for ensuring the safety and reliability of our nation's air-travel infrastructure as well as providing valuable training and development for the next generation of pilots and air traffic controllers. This bill will ensure that we maintain our competitive edge over China and the rest of the world.
