I’m writing you today with a brief update on COVID-19, what’s going on, and what’s being done in my office to protect Washingtonians. 
 
First and foremost, we are encouraging everyone to follow the appropriate steps to stay healthy and safe. Visit the CDC website for more information on best practices. 
 
We know that in times of stress and uncertainty, people prey on vulnerabilities. That’s why my office launched an investigation into price gouging in Washington state and across our country on basic necessities like food and medical items. Check out this link to a recent interview I gave on why we need to be thinking about consumer protection during the outbreak. We are sending a message that taking advantage of a public health crisis for the sake of profit will not be tolerated.
