Hi John,

>>Do you give Congress a passing grade for 2023? Let us know by taking a one-question survey now!<<

It was so strange to look at my calendar this morning and see that December has already rolled around. Now that we’re entering the holiday season, we’ll soon see plenty of year-end lists naming the best songs, movies, and TV shows of 2023.

But it’s hard to come up with an equivalent “best of” list for Congress.

In 2023, we’ve seen partisan extremists in Washington grind Congress to a halt. The year began with a group of far-right lawmakers trying to deny Rep. Kevin McCarthy the speakership. They only relented when they secured key concessions in the House rules that gave them outsized power – power they used in October to kick McCarthy out of his position for having the gall to work with Democrats to keep the government open.

In between, we saw a debt ceiling stand-off that almost plunged the nation into default. Now, partisans on both sides of the aisle seek to slow down aid to our allies Israel and Ukraine as they fight for their very survival.

In my humble opinion, it hasn’t been Congress’s finest hour. But we do need to be thankful for the courageous bipartisan leaders in the House and Senate who are working right now to avert a government shutdown, to get aid to our allies abroad and to secure our border. And we need to remember why our mission at No Labels is more critical than ever.

But we want to hear from you: What’s your take on Congress's performance this year? Your insights help guide our efforts as we push for a government that works for everyone, not just the political extremes.

Please take a moment to rate Congress's 2023 performance in our one-question survey:

Democrats in Florida kneecap the Dean Phillips campaign
By Holly Otterbein and Gary Fineout

Florida Democrats are canceling their presidential primary next year, as Rep. Dean Phillips mounts a real challenge to President Biden. The Democratic Party establishment is rigging the primary system to eliminate competition — and this is why a No Labels Unity ticket could be the only way to give American voters the choice they want. Polling shows 70 percent of Americans say they support more choices. And that is what they deserve.

Catch No Labels 101 on Demand
With Ryan Clancy

No Labels is making history, and we want everyone to be part of our national movement! We're working hard to support a potential independent Unity presidential ticket in 2024. Establishment forces within the two major parties have already registered their objections to this project, but they're only displaying a disconnect with how the country feels. Our mission captures the pulse of what Americans say they want. No Labels 101 is an introductory video by chief strategist Ryan Clancy about our work.
