The Clarifying Effect
of October 7th
The terrorist attacks against Israel on Oct. 7 brought a lot of things into focus in American politics.
The response to these attacks has been both eye-opening and clarifying in terms of highlighting the breadth of antisemitism in our country and revealing where people stand.
We've seen students and staff on college campuses rally in support of Palestinian terrorists with student groups openly supporting Hamas, college faculty offering extra credit to students who attend pro-Palestinian events, and college administrators doing little to make their Jewish students feel safe.
What little these administrators have said to denounce the protests has been weak tea, and usually only after donors threaten to close their checkbooks, (which should give us a hint about what allows such ignorance to thrive in the first place).
|
We’ve seen "mainstream" media outlets that are quick to report the Hamas party line, but slow to give Israel the benefit of the doubt on much of anything without triple-notarized receipts.
The Associated Press has even updated its style guide to avoid the terms "terrorism and terrorists," saying that they have "become politicized," and further insists on referring to Hamas as "militants," "fighters," "attackers," or "combatants."
And now we’re seeing how it is increasingly putting Democrats at odds with greater numbers of Americans that used to constitute part of their base of support.
Leading voices among Congressional Democrats have accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and genocide and are demanding that the Biden administration call for a cease-fire. The National Muslim Democrat Council recently threatened to work against Biden in battleground states in 2024 unless he forces a cease-fire on the Israeli government.
And after Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders (who caucuses with Democrats) tweeted a simple recognition of the fifth anniversary of the attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, where 11 Jewish worshipers were killed, what followed was a deluge of antisemitic and often vile responses from leftists and even many self-avowed former Bernie supporters.
Even Biden’s own spokesperson hesitated to call evil by its real name. When Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about any concern for the outbreak of antisemitism, she pivoted to concerns over Islamophobia. When politicians show you who they are, believe them.
It’s instructive to note that much of the left had greater outrage over whether you ventured out in public during COVID than over Israelis being tortured, raped, and killed, and babies being beheaded in Israel.
|
Is this what they mean by the "tolerant left?"
All of this should help clarify who truly supports western civilization vs. barbarism, not to mention our most reliable Middle Eastern ally — and the only truly democratic government in the region — Israel.
It should clarify that so much of what passes for academia does precious little to instruct young minds in the skills that they need to succeed in life, much less in the principles that made America great, and instead promotes hatred of our country and its founding principles.
This is the kind of garbage that finds a home in places that promote "critical theory" and "intersectionality" — which is shorthand for hating America and western civilization in general.
It's what happens when we encourage people to be hyphenated-Americans, rather than Americans, and to resent the culture that gave birth to the freedoms that we enjoy.
It's cultural rot, and as the saying goes, politics is downstream of culture.
The Biden Administration and the Democrat Party in general are committed to supporting these root problems — multi-culturalism, anti-American/anti-western ideologies, and a borderless society that helps them flourish.
That's what so-called progressivism does. It doesn't build, it destroys.
And keep in mind that all of this comes into sharper relief because Palestinian terrorists murdered over 1,200 Jews in cold blood. Clarifying indeed.

Why are Kansas Schools Supporting Transgenderism?
Testimony to KSBE
by
Linda Highland, Chair
KSGOP Resolutions Committee
| |
November 14, 2023
Why is the group Gays Against Groomers (GAG) so against SEL education on LGBTQ+ subjects? “School is not the place for underage children to be bombarded with information that could exacerbate their natural inner turmoil. Growing up is hard enough as it is. We do not believe they should be exposed to and pressured into contemplating ideologies that prioritize sexuality and identity above real world skills. Children need to be focused on learning pragmatic skills like math, how to be a good friend, setting boundaries, basic communication and how to be a team player. Queer theory and gender ideology are not necessary for development or self-discovery; they certainly weren't necessary for ours. When children are exposed to overly sexual material too soon, it can cause behavioral issues that lead them to dangerous situations.”
Why is GAG so against youth having access to puberty blockers and gender affirming surgeries? “In order to become healthy critically thinking adults, normal puberty is essential. Puberty blockers are a risky and unnatural way of teaching a child to deal with something every human being naturally goes through. The risks include loss of bone density, slowed or stunted brain development, stunted sexual development, and sterility. Removing body parts of healthy children before they’ve grown into them is child abuse, plain and simple. Rather than enabling children to wage war on their own bodies, we believe they should be taught how to love themselves as they are until they can make a clear and informed decision as an adult. Even chest binding is a destructive behavior that damages breast tissue in a way that could lead to mandatory surgery. We are against these practices because they have the potential to do more harm than good.”
Knowing all the cruel dangers to children of adopting the pathway to transgenderism, why are you encouraging students to think they are born in the wrong body and asking the following questions of students on the KCTC survey, the CDC survey, and other teaching materials used for your SEL curriculum?
| |
“What is your current gender identity, even if it is different than the gender you were assigned at birth?”
“Which of the following best describes your sexual orientation? Straight, that is, not gay, Gay or lesbian, Bisexual, I’m not sure yet, Something else?”
Your sex education curriculum says that from 3rd grade and “by the end of the 5th grade, students should be able to distinguish between sex assigned at birth and gender identity and explain how they may or may not differ, and the potential role of hormone blockers on young people who identify as transgender.”
Christopher F. Rufo explains, “This is the great project of the transgender movement: to abolish the distinction of man and woman, to transcend the limitations established by God and nature, and to connect the personal struggle of trans individuals to the political struggle to transform society in a radical way.” The legislature must add Kansas to the 22 other states who have banned these therapies and procedures, with civil penalties upon anyone who performs and pushes them.
PEDIATRICIANS ARE SPEAKING OUT ABOUT THE DANGERS OF TRANSGENDER IDEOLOGY. The American College of Pediatricians developed a project, the Biological Integrity website, an excellent resource for parents, teens, pastors, educators, healthcare professionals, and policymakers.
TAKE ACTION: You can help protect children from the destructive delusion that they can “change their sex.” See and share the Biological Integrity website today! It provides much-needed facts about the dangers of the "transgender" ideology and offers numerous fact sheets and helpful resources, including expert counselors for children struggling with "trans" feelings. This excellent website can change minds and lives!

Ban TikTok
and
Defund Liberal “Education”
| |
For weeks, we’ve seen the reports and read the stories of those who were there and witnessed Hamas’ atrocities. We’ve seen the pro-Hamas and pro-Palestine rallies on elite university campuses and public spaces across America celebrating Hamas’ murderous cause.
It shocked the conscience to see and hear university faculty, the very people who sculpt the thoughts and opinions of our children while away at college, pen letters excusing the terrorists and resurrecting bin Laden’s Letter to America as justification for the cold-blooded and cowardly murder of innocent Israelis.
| |
In this whirlwind of complete nonsense, I thought I understood the extent and depth of the moral decay. I thought we had perhaps hit the bottom of the barrel. I was wrong.
In a revealing and disappointing Harvard/Harris poll, 51 percent of Americans ages 18–24 believe Hamas was justified in its brutal terrorist attacks on innocent Israeli citizens on October 7. Fifty One Percent. Read that again. How can that be?
I read that statistic thinking I’d lost the capacity to be surprised. We've seen the videos of atrocities of Hamas in Israel recently.
We know for a fact that Hamas is a terrorist organization of barbaric animals. We know Hamas runs Gaza, Israel’s next-door neighbor. And the world knows Iran funds Hamas. These are facts.
| |
None of these facts come as a surprise to anyone and can easily do their own research on the web or by reading an article from a credible news source. It's not a secret.
Another fact, as noted above, is that fifty-one percent of America's youth and young adults support Hamas and Palestinian barbaric tactics against Israel and Jews.
How can that be? Here is how. A recent study found that TikTok, the popular social media app, has a significant impact on the political views of young Americans. Specifically, the study found that a growing number of young people are expressing support for Hamas, the Palestinian militant group, and that TikTok is a significant factor behind this trend.
When asked about their sources of news and information, most respondents cited social media platforms like TikTok as a primary source.
| |
Given these alarming findings, there are growing calls for a national ban on TikTok. The serious concern is the app is promoting extremist views and is contributing to the radicalization of young Americans in a way we don't realize and behind a curtain where we cannot see.
Some are also calling on social media companies to do more to address the issue, including implementing more robust content moderation policies and promoting more balanced coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
But the Chinese Communist Party controls TikTok, and “content moderation” isn't in their interest of damaging and dividing America.
And there is proof.
The concerns regarding TikTok are rooted in more than mere entertainment or social trends. The platform’s influence stretches beyond cat videos and viral videos of foolish behavior; it has become a significant source of information for many, especially among the younger demographic. However, the troubling aspect lies in its ownership and control.
|
TikTok is under the control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). This very fact should raise profound concerns about the information consumed by millions of Americans through their propaganda-driven app. The CCP’s adeptness in using information as a weapon is well-documented. Xi Jinping, the CCP’s leader, made clear the critical role of information in shaping ideas and influencing the stability of regimes. This isn’t mere speculation; it’s a strategic declaration from the highest authority within the CCP. Believe him on this point.
When we consider the arguments about constitutional rights and freedom of speech in the context of banning TikTok, it’s crucial to differentiate between personal expression and national security. The issue isn’t about stifling individuals’ freedom to express themselves; it’s about safeguarding our public space from foreign interference and manipulation. Congress has a history of protecting sensitive sectors of the economy, especially in the media, from foreign influence, acknowledging the potential risks to national security.
Banning TikTok isn’t about curtailing Americans’ voices. Instead, it’s about shielding our society from the potential dangers of a platform controlled by a foreign adversary. It’s about safeguarding our information from surveillance, censorship, and disseminating propaganda to sway public opinion.
This isn’t an attack on free speech but a protective measure against the intrusion of a foreign government that doesn’t share our values or interests. And China is a government that would love to topple America.
|
The comparison to banning Huawei, a company restricted from building telecommunications infrastructure due to national security concerns, is appropriate. It underscores the gravity of allowing entities tied to foreign governments access to sensitive areas of our economy and our lives. Just as we safeguard all critical American infrastructure, we must protect our information landscape.
It’s time for a proactive stance. Congress needs to take action to protect our personal and public information integrity and our collective national security. This goal should be a bi-partisan effort and would be a responsible step toward preserving the sanctity of our information environment.
|
Regardless of the approach taken, something must be done to address the role of social media and schooling education in shaping the political views of young Americans. As a society, we must ensure that young people can access accurate, balanced information and are not unduly influenced by extremist voices on platforms like TikTok and publicly funded schools and universities.
And as Rush Limbaugh used to say, we must guard and educate those impressionable and young skulls full of mush. Unfortunately, adults for decades now have ceded that responsibility to “education,” and now to social media and China. The radicals in these realms have abused this trust - and as a result, they've damaged America.
It is time for the federal government to ban TikTok and for the Kansas Legislature to focus on cutting taxpayer dollars subsidizing Kansas public universities and schools propagating this insanity before it is too late.

Governor Kelly Caves, Wretched Plate Design Paused
Proposed new design for Kansas License Plates scheduled for roll out in 2024.
Current New York License Plate Design
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly was forced to capitulate this week and pause the production of the wretchedly bad license plate design she wantonly and unilaterally approved.
Political pressure and commentary from Kansas citizens, legislators, statewide elected officials, and The Kansas Republican Party caused the governor to backtrack, canceling the approval to manufacture the plate design.
Kansans were reminded Governor Laura Kelly is originally from New York when the new Kansas license plate design, suspiciously similar to a New York license plate was rolled out this week to a resounding “thud.”
Kansans panned the plate design from all points on the political spectrum.
The Kansas Republican Party calls on Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to fully disclose how much money this wrongheaded folly and financial debacle has cost the hard-working people of Kansan.
Feel free to let Governor Kelly know your thoughts:

How Does the
RNC Work?
Republican National Committeewoman
and
Committeeman
Elections
January 27th
State Committee Meeting
| |
As the KSGOP moves closer to our late-January State Convention, where elections for Kansas National Committeeman (NCM) and National Committeewoman (NCW) will occur, folks are curious about the NCW and NCM positions and what all of this means. This article is intended to provide some information and clarity. However, it is not meant to be definitive but somewhat educational.
Here is an explanation: each piece borrowed from different sources or experience, including RNC sources, current NCW and NCM, and searches of the internet regarding how the governing body of the Republican National Committee, often referred to as “The 168”, is comprised and how it functions:
The RNC comprises 168 members from 56 states and territories (one chair, one national committeeman, and one national committeewoman, yeilding 3 x 56 = 168).
Each state and territory elects the NCW and NCM members to serve a four-year term, and in that capacity, they serve as the governing body of the RNC with each state party chair. There are typically three major meetings a year and other meeting opportunities scattered throughout the year.
The RNC does not typically pay for travel expenses and meeting accommodations, and the Members (at least in Kansas) are financially personally responsible for their expenses.
| |
NCW and NCM Duties
National Level
The RNC Committee Members’ primary responsibility is to elect the Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Republican National Committee. They also play an important role as to the formulation of national policies through The Rules of the Republican Party, the Republican Party Platform and Member-driven resolutions.
Committee Members also provide key guidance on the interpretation of RNC National policies and to provide input on their revision which occurs every four years at the Republican National Convention.
RNC Committee Members should attend all meetings at the state and national levels.
State and Local Level
On a state and local level, National Committee Members serve as leaders of the Party and fulfil several different roles including: advisor, implementer, fundraiser, moderator, cheerleader, counselor, activist, and motivator. RNC Members can, from time to time, act as spokespersons for the National Committee and respective state party committees.
Other responsibilities
Attend all RNC meetings
Deliver RNC messages to the state and/or local committee(s)
Facilitate party utilization of RNC information and resources
Meet often with local and state party leaders
Communicate with the RNC Regional Political Director
Work to ensure party unity as an effective moderator, should internal disputes arise
Work to implement RNC National programs in Kansas
Work with state party leaders to develop and coordinate party programs
Be willing to travel and give speeches
Maintain a presence and involvement in state and local activities
Work with state party leaders as a productive member of the State Executive Committee
Serve as a surrogate when needed to campaign for state and local candidates
Support the work of the party with personal financial contributions
Engage grassroots activists and actively recruit new party workers
| |
RNC Meetings
RNC Committee Members attend three annual meetings: The January Winter Meeting, the Spring Meeting in April or May, and the Summer Meeting in July or August.
When RNC Committee Members meet, they vote on proposals that maintain the essential business of the party, such as a review of the annual RNC budget, a review of Member-submitted resolutions, and a review & interpretation of Party Rules, among other things.
RNC Committee Members are responsible for making travel and lodging arrangements and personally providing all funds required for travel and attendance at RNC meetings.
Terms of Office
An RNC Committee Member is elected to a four-year term, which commences at the adjournment of the Republican National Convention immediately following their election and lasts until the adjournment of the following quadrennial National Convention.

Are Political Party 50/50 Raffles Legal as a Fundraiser?
by
Mark Skoglund, ED
Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission
| |
KSGOP Chairman Mike Brown passed on to Mark Skogkund, Executive Director of the Kansas Governmental Affairs Commission, a question regarding fundraising, asking him for his input and any further explanation. Below is his response.
If you have a question for Governmental Ethics, send it to [email protected]. We will work to get you an answer.
Question:
Is a 50/50 fundraising raffle legal, and if so, how should it be reported on the finance reporting form?
Answer:
First, 50/50 raffles are legal but have two issues worth being aware of:
1. However much the ticket costs, the ticket's total price is a contribution. The 50% given away at the end of the raffle is an expenditure from the Committee. If a ticket costs $20, then the purchaser has made a $20 contribution, even though $10 will ultimately be given away for the raffle at the end. This is conceptually like when someone gives, say, $100 through Paypal - the contributor has given $100 and should be reported accordingly, even though PayPal processing fees mean the committee only receives around $97.
2. The pass-the-hat anonymous issue also applies to these scenarios, so they should have names and addresses written down for people who purchase tickets. That may be something they are already doing to run the 50/50 raffle, but I just wanted to remind them of that as well.

My grandmother took in all of the orphan families at the holidays while I was growing up. Our holiday table was always full—but so were our hearts.
This year, we celebrate without her for the 6th year, BUT, my little family is bringing in our first orphan family this week to set the example for our kids to love people well.
We are so excited!
