BIDENOMICS CONTINUES TO FAIL OUR FAMILIES AND OUR ECONOMY American families need an extra $11,434 to keep up with rising prices in the Biden economy. MEETING WITH OFFICIALS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA It was a pleasure to meet with University of Iowa President, Barbara Wilson, and Vice President for Medical Affairs, Dr. Denise Jamieson. I appreciate their leadership and commitment to our students. PROTECTING IOWA TAXPAYERS BY COMBATING OVERPAYMENT OF SNAP BENEFITS As a strong, fiscal conservative, I believe that Congress must do everything possible to protect taxpayer dollars from being wasted or fraudulently disbursed. The sad reality is that waste, fraud, and abuse have become commonplace in our federal bureaucracy, weakening our already poor fiscal health and forcing American taxpayers to pick up the tab. That’s wrong and it’s why we need accountability. SNAP is no exception. Every month, SNAP overpayments account for nearly $1 billion in federal spending. I’m proud to lead the Snap Back Inaccurate SNAP Payments Act to help eliminate waste and promote fiscal responsibility by preventing overpayment of SNAP benefits and safeguarding precious dollars for families in need. THANKING NICOLE CLEVELAND FOR HER ADVOCACY FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS WITH TURNER SYNDROME My faith teaches me that God creates every child for a purpose and a reason. I appreciate my friend, Nicole Cleveland, for sharing her inspiring story defying the odds of living with Turner syndrome and advocating for passage of my Protecting Girls with Turner Syndrome Act. By officially completing my third annual 36 County Tour, I have upheld that pledge, had many invaluable discussions with Iowans, and transformed our priorities and values into sound policy and legislative victories. Since I kicked off the first iteration of my 36 County Tour in 2021, I have made more than 230 stops at businesses, manufacturers, police departments, farms, schools, universities, hospitals, ethanol plants, and healthcare clinics. I’ve also held several town halls with Iowans and attended Rotary and Kiwanis Club meetings – to name a few. At every stop, I am inspired by the incredible work that Iowans are doing to support our families, help our neighbors, keep our main streets vibrant, and power our economy.
