Israel wasted no time resuming its genocidal attacks on Gaza, as Netanyahu promised. We demand a permanent ceasefire now. American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) vehemently condemns the resumption of Israeli genocidal war on Gaza following a mere week-long pause. Israel's war on Gaza has now entered its 56th day. Israel’s immediate resumption of indiscriminate airstrikes on Gaza has already resulted in the murder of at least 178 Palestinian civilians in less than 24 hours, with dozens more injured. The Israeli occupation force’s actions demonstrate a flagrant disregard for human life and international law. Despite a brief period of respite that saw the implementation of a humanitarian truce, the Israeli forces resumed aerial bombardments and artillery attacks minutes after its expiration, signaling a stark contempt for peace efforts. The truce, which began on November 24th and was extended twice, involved exchanges of prisoners and the provision of humanitarian aid, yet ended without any substantial progress towards a permanent ceasefire - exposing Israel's real genocidal goal: the complete destruction and ethnic cleansing of Gaza. Since the onset of Israel’s war on Gaza in early October, approximately 60 percent of homes in Gaza have been destroyed, leaving 50,000 families homeless and devastating the lives of the Palestinian people. Millions of Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes in northern Gaza, and now Israel is moving in on the southern half of Gaza, too. We hold the Biden administration accountable for its role in this ongoing tragedy. Despite Israel’s clear intent of genocide and multiple warnings from international observers and diplomats, the U.S. has continued to provide Israel with military and financial support, effectively endorsing the ongoing siege and unhinged violence against Palestinian civilians. The U.S. administration’s failure to leverage its influence to bring about an end to the hostilities and its perpetuation of the narrative of Israel’s right to self-defense has only emboldened Israeli aggression. This is evident from Israel’s immediate aggression, which resumed even before U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s departure from Israel to the UAE to attend the United Nations climate conference, blatantly disregarding U.S. “imperatives.” AMP reiterates its call for an immediate permanent ceasefire and urges the international community, especially the United States, to recognize and address the root cause of the current situation: occupation. Only through a genuine commitment to justice and the upholding of international law can there be hope for a lasting and equitable resolution. In solidarity with the Palestinian people, we demand immediate action to protect civilians and hold those responsible for these atrocities accountable. The path toward peace and stability in the region must be paved with respect for freedom, human rights, and the dignity of all people. Palestinians have suffered under the wrath of the occupation for decades now, and it’s time to bring this oppression to an end. Signed, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) |
