This past weekend, Donald Trump took to social media to complain that Republicans didn’t end the Affordable Care Act—also known as Obamacare—when he was president. And, he said that “we should never give up!”
Millions of people have gained health coverage thanks to the ACA–many for the first time. There’s no way we’re going back to a time when insurance companies could rip away your insurance when you got sick; a time when being a woman was a pre-existing condition.
Repealing the Affordable Care Act would mean an end to young people being able to stay on their parents insurance until 26, and end to protections for pre-existing conditions, and end to subsidies that make it much more affordable for folks to buy insurance through the marketplace, and much more. We should be expanding health care, not taking it away from people.
Donald Trump has a huge lead over the rest of the field in the Republican presidential primary. That’s why we need to support President Biden’s reelection. There is so much on the line.
And in the meantime, I’ll continue my work in the Senate to make sure we protect–and expand–health care for people across the country.
