The coronavirus pandemic is coming to the United States, and it is going to hit seniors and people with disabilities the hardest. A pandemic can overwhelm our healthcare system’s capacity, exacerbating the crisis.

Individual steps are important, but we also need a systemic response of a sort not yet seen from the Trump administration.

The plan at this site calls for $142 billion in emergency funding to increase hospital and clinical capacity, invest in nursing home and senior community preparedness, protect frontline workers, establish paid sick leave, improve unemployment insurance, guarantee food security, provide testing, provide treatment, and prevent price gouging.
