In Congress, I’m leading the push to make December 1st a federal holiday to commemorate the anniversary of Rosa Parks’ arrest — a turning point that sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott and galvanized the civil rights movement.

Rosa Parks’ courage and resilience deserves to be celebrated and remembered — and as Alabama’s Representative for Montgomery — I am committed to ensuring that her legacy lives on.

Designating December 1st as a federal holiday is a small yet meaningful step towards recognizing the contributions of Black women in our nation’s history.
