In response to the coronavirus public health emergency, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate is closed to the public in order to protect the public and mitigate community spread of COVID-19. The Kennedy Institute will continually monitor and assess the public health situation and will make a further determination regarding closure on Monday, April 6.
The Institute’s facility will undergo a deep cleaning and will be monitored by security and maintenance teams during the closure period.
Daytime civic education programs, school visits, and evening public programs during this period will either be rescheduled or cancelled. Institute staff will contact those with upcoming scheduled events in the building to determine feasibility of rescheduling.
In conjunction with this closure, the following programs are postponed indefinitely:
- Getting to the Point on the 2020 Census on Tuesday, March 24
- Kids’ Climate Convention on Saturday, April 4
- First Saturday Drop-In Tour on Saturday, April 4
If you have already registered for any of these programs, staff from the Institute will contact you with scheduling updates as they become available. The Institute has implemented a work-from-home policy for all but essential staff.
The Edward M. Kennedy Institute prioritizes the health and safety of the community and recommends that our staff, members, and visitors follow all public health guidelines. As more information becomes available, the Institute will communicate via emkinstitute.org and social channels.
