John,
Rumours are swirling around Ottawa about a
potential Spring Election.
It all started last month
when Trudeau’s Liberals announced their two campaign co-chairs — the
individuals responsible for strategizing and running their national
campaign for the next election.
At the same time Poilievre’s
fake Conservatives have been making massive multi-million dollar ad
buys.
John, I am not a part of the elitist Ottawa
swamp, I can’t tell you if these rumours are true or not.
But what I can tell you is that the PPC needs to be
ready for an election whether it's in 2024 or fall 2025.
We find ourselves in a bit of a new situation. For the
first time since I founded the PPC, the government has stood for more
than 2 years.
This is, of course, bad for the
country. The Liberal-NDP government makes our country worse by the day
and the feeble opposition does little to hold them to account.
But it has actually been good for the PPC.
For the first time in the Party’s history we’re not rushing
towards an election. We have more time to select and onboard our
candidates, campaign, and raise funds so we can put our best foot
forward in the next election.
Immediately after the Liberals
and NDP signed their “supply and confidence agreement” and it looked
like we would have a stable government for a few years, I sat down
with my team to develop a long-term strategic plan to ensure the PPC
would be successful in the next election.
A crucial part of
this plan is a fundraising strategy to ensure we can compete with the
major parties next time around.
John, I am very careful
about how the Party’s finances are managed.
It is a
challenging balance investing in growing the Party while also growing
our war chest for the next election, when those funds can make the
greatest impact.
I am proud to let you know that since
the last election we have been diligently saving and have amassed a
war chest of about $2 million (so far) set aside for the next
campaign.
It’s not much compared to the established
parties, but it is already more than we were able to spend on the 2021
campaign (about $1.5 million).
John, I am very proud
of what we accomplished in the last election.
Even
though we failed to send representatives to Ottawa, achieving 5% of
the national vote just 3 years after our Party was founded is an
unprecedented accomplishment.
All the more impressive when you
realize the unbelievable financial disadvantage we operate at.
During the last election we were outspent by the
establishment parties 20 to 1.
In 2021 the
Conservative Party spent $28 million, compared to our $1.5 million.
We need to narrow this gap if we’re going to succeed
in the next election, send a contingent of PPC MPs to Ottawa, and
start turning this country around.
I want to have at
least $4 million in the bank before we head into the next election.
To end 2023 strong and to keep up with my strategic plan, I’m
setting our year-end fundraising target a bit higher this year.
Last year I set an aggressive fundraising target of
$500,000 to make sure we ended the year strong.
Not
only did we achieve our goal, we exceeded it! We were able to
raise $540,000 in December last year.
But as we start
ramping up to the next election, we need to set our sights even
higher.
To keep up with my long term plan we have to
raise $550,000 before midnight on December
31st.
It’s ambitious, but I believe it is
achievable.
We need everyone to pitch in if
we're going to hit this target and put our Party in a strong position
going into the New Year!
Consider making a contribution, big
or small — every dollar counts.
Let’s make
this a record-breaking December!
Make a $5.50 donation to help us reach our
$550,000 goal to end 2023 strong!
Cheers,
-Max
