John xxxxxx,

I am closely monitoring the rapid spread of coronavirus and doing everything in my power to ensure we have a fully-funded, coordinated government response to confront this global outbreak.

We've already moved swiftly to pass $8 billion in emergency funding to help address the scale and seriousness of this public health crisis. I've also introduced the Cure the Coronavirus Act to encourage the rapid innovation and approval of a treatment for COVID-19.

As concerns around coronavirus grow, it’s important you have the latest information to protect your health and well-being.

Here’s the latest from New York City:
If you are concerned, you should call 311 or your health care provider immediately. To get real-time updates from the city, text COVID to 692-692.
If you are feeling unwell and don’t know what to do, call your health care provider.
New York City is asking all employers to evaluate their telecommuting policies and consider staggering arrival times to prevent overcrowding.

Here are some steps for you to take to protect yourself and others against the coronavirus:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are unavailable. Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Put distance between yourself and others, particularly if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. Also, avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Older adults and people with existing respiratory conditions are advised not to attend large public gatherings.
If you are sick or feel sick, stay home except to receive medical care. And you should not visit family or friends who are elderly, have compromised immune systems or chronic respiratory or coronary issues.

Please pass this on to your friends and family, and take the necessary precautions. I'll continue to keep you updated while I work with our state and local leaders as the outbreak develops.

During times like this, it's never been more important to stay informed, so please click here for the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
