Voices from the Field: Love, Justice, Service: Home Missioners in Ministry

Don’t miss the opportunity to join the Voices from the Field virtual event to find out more about the work of the Office of Deaconess and Home Missioner, administered by United Women in Faith. Learn from people who are transforming their communities and how you, through Mission Giving, make this transformation possible. Hear how three home missioners live out their lifetime calls to love, justice, and service.

  • Home Missioner Jonah Ballesteros, North Texas Conference – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Program Specialist for Richardson Independent School District. Ballesteros also actively seeks ways to cultivate community connections in the Philippines.
  • Home Missioner Jeff Fuller, North Georgia Conference – Abundant Health Coordinator
  • Home Missioner Bill White, Michigan Conference – Co-Founder of 5Loaves2Fish Northern Michigan

An optional breakout session will follow the one-hour program.
The quarterly Voices from the Field events feature leaders sharing their work and life stories, daily challenges, hopes, and dreams. This conversation series highlights United Women in Faith’s initiatives supported by Mission Giving—initiatives that significantly improve the lives of women, children, and youth down the block and around the world. World Aids Day Continues Support for People Living with HIV and AIDS

According to the U.S. Federal Government, by the end of 2022 approximately 39 million people were living with HIV and AIDS in the world. Although conditions are improving, United Methodist Church recognizes HIV and AIDS continues as a public health threat and source of suffering. Taking seriously the Gospel requirement to care for those who are suffering, ill or in distress, addressing the AIDS epidemic is imperative. There are many ways to take action today:

  1. Learn more here about what the Bible and The United Methodist Church says about the AIDS epidemic including 
  2. Support the United Methodist Global AIDS Fund, which aims to educate and inspire annual conferences and local churches to advocate for better global AIDS policies and resources.
  3. Advocate policymakers to support AIDs prevention, care and treatment through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR). You can take action here to tell Congress to reauthorize PEPFAR funding and continue the fight against HIV/AIDS.
