<[link removed]>Friend --
December 1st marks the beginning of the Universal Month for Human Rights.
In 1948, the United Nations crafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a standard of achievement for people across all nations, to recognize the inherent dignity and inalienable rights of all members of the human family. The first article states:
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
I find myself reflecting on the profound responsibility we share in the fight for justice and equality. As we face unprecedented, existential crises - crushing inequality, endless war and environmental destruction - let us find solace and strength in our shared commitment to universal human rights, at home and abroad.

As we enter Universal Human Rights Month, we honor the timeless principles that define our shared humanity—dignity, freedom, and the inherent worth of every individual. Let's bring these principles especially where needed most, from Flint to Wounded Knee, to Gaza, Yemen and beyond.
Together, we can bring about the change we wish to see in the world. Thank you for being a crucial part of our movement.
In solidarity, always.
Jill
