Hi John,

As the year comes to a close, I wanted to look back and share some
highlights that made us all hopeful this year.

I also want to say thank you for being part
of the climate movement, and taking action together with us for climate
justice.

Despite the challenges we’ve all faced, it's important to highlight our
wins, to remember what we’ve achieved, and to move forward together, with
hope.

Power Up 2023

Power Up, our global renewable energy revolution which held over 220
events in 63 countries, was a resounding success. Together we motivated
people worldwide to unite, demanding a massive scaling up of renewable
energy, and a shift away from fossil fuels.

From Los Angeles to Nepal, the global mobilization applied immense
pressure to decision makers just before the UN climate talks at COP28. We
were able to do it because of you,
John.

East African Crude Oil Pipeline

In May, our campaign against the East African Crude Oil Pipe Line (EACOP)
took to the streets, as activists held a global day of action across the
world demanding we #StopEACOP.

26 major banks and over eleven (re)insurers have committed not to provide
insurance coverage for the EACOP project, after facing public pressure
demanding they back down from funding this dirty project.

Asia Solidarity Lab

This year, we launched The Asia Solidarity Lab, a dynamic platform that
brings together amazing activists, thinkers, and artists from across Asia
to address critical social and political issues. With a commitment to
social justice, the Lab provides a space for meaningful dialogue,
collaboration, and creativity.

Targeting Fossil Fuel Giants and Defunding Pipelines

Our activists are on the front lines calling out big oil companies on
their obscene profits and destruction to the climate.

We had huge news from Brazil, where the BNDES bank took a historic step in
refusing to provide credit for coal-fired power plants. This victory sent
a powerful message against dirty energy projects, with the new director
Bruno Aranha now beginning the restructuring process for the bank to
decarbonize its portfolios after early pressure from the climate movement.

World Bank

World Bank

In 2023 we took on the World Bank, with nearly 40,000 signatures demanding
new President, Ajay Banga, commit to ending our reliance on fossil fuels
and redirect money to support a just transition to renewable energy.

It’s really quite simple — to prevent devastating climate breakdown, we
have to end all fossil finance.

NYC Climate March

On September 17th, over 75,000 activists showed up and joined the March to
End Fossil Fuels, the largest climate demonstration in the US since the
start of the pandemic.

Demonstrators put pressure on the Biden administration to end new fossil
fuel projects such as Alaska’s controversial and newly approved Willow
project.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

John, our
victories are proof that if we work together, we can build a brighter,
greener future. And it doesn’t stop here: we need your support to continue
the fight for a fairer future.

Thank you for standing with us. Together, we can make a world of
difference.

Onwards,

May Boeve
