[link removed] [[link removed]] John, George Santos was just expelled from CongressAlmost a year ago, we told you about a New York Times investigation that led to allegations of fraud and misrepresentation against George Santos. CREW demanded that Santos resign from office and not be allowed to receive classified information.
In May, Santos was indicted on 13 criminal counts including fraud, theft of public funds, money laundering and making false statements to Congress. Just weeks later, CREW filed a campaign finance complaint with the FBI and Department of Justice raising further questions about his campaign finance filings. In October, the DOJ added 10 more counts, including for making charges on donors’ credit cards without their consent.
We’re glad that the House of Representatives finally took action to remove him from office. Now he'll be remembered as only the third member of Congress since the Civil War to be expelled from Congress. As the House Ethics Committee’s extensive report made clear, Santos deserves nothing less.
CREW will always take action to hold those accountable who break the law and threaten our democracy. Make a donation to CREW today to help us continue our work → [[link removed]]If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
