John, it’s official: the Service Year Option is now live!

This first-in-the-nation Public Service Year Program for recent high school graduates has now officially kicked off. The first cohort will work with local non-profits, businesses, public agencies, and schools to help recent high school graduates kickstart their careers in public service.

We’re so proud to kick off this important program right here in Maryland. Maryland will continue to lead the way in promoting service — and with your support right now, we can expand on the groundwork we’ve established in the first year of Wes’ governorship. This program is a really big deal. By investing in our youth, we’re investing in a whole new generation for our future. Service is what will bring us together — and we can’t stop here.

This program will create new pathways for service to meet the needs of the community, promote preparedness, and prepare the new cohort for other paths of education, whether that’s higher education or vocational training.

As the participants complete the service year, we’re hoping this will inspire more folks across the state to join our vision of service and go back to their communities to serve.
