Just last night, I had the privilege of witnessing a magnificent display of the Northern Lights just outside of the Boundary Waters. I’ve been “chasing the aurora” for the past few years, and the spectacle never fails to inspire awe. These clear, dark skies above the lakes and forests of northern Minnesota are unique and a treasure to protect. 

That is why today, I am excited to share we've received a generous matching gift challenge of $175,000 to protect this Dark Sky Sanctuary. But we need your help to ensure we receive all of these funds. Every dollar you give will be doubled to preserve these stunning night skies for future generations. The dark skies of the Boundary Waters are truly unrivaled. Because of the lack of light pollution, the stars shimmer brighter, the Milky Way is more vivid, and the chances of seeing the Northern lights are more likely. In fact, the Boundary Waters is a designated International Dark Sky Sanctuary - one of only 14 in the world. 

However, as light pollution increases worldwide, we risk losing the powerful display of our universe. It is our shared responsibility to ensure future generations are able to connect with the night sky.
