Indivisibles,
We’ve talked to local groups, we’ve vetted candidates, and we’ve counted
the votes. And now, we’re excited to announce Indivisible’s third round of
national endorsements for the 2020 election cycle! These national
endorsements elevate the candidates preferred by the grassroots,
showcasing a new class of leaders who reflect the values of the
Indivisible movement.
We’re so grateful to the local groups who nominated these candidates --
this process wouldn’t have been possible without their help every step of
the way. So without further ado, our third slate of nationally endorsed
candidates are:
We’re proud to announce our endorsement of Melanie D'Arrigo
(NY-03), Audrey Denney (CA-01), Josh Harder (CA-10), and Renee Hoyos
(TN-02):
* [ [link removed] ]Melanie D’Arrigo wants to represent New York’s 3rd district to
restore power to the people whose voices have been drowned out by the
agendas of corporate lobbyists. Her opponent is vice-chair of the
Problem Solvers Caucus, whose members are more interested in weakening
progressive bills than solving actual problems. Melanie wants to work
for the benefit of the majority of Americans, not just the wealthy and
the powerful. She understands the struggles of working and
middle-class families, and we’re confident that Melanie will champion
their needs in Congress.
* [ [link removed] ]Audrey Denney is running for Congress with a single vision in mind:
making our government work more effectively. She believes that is the
best way to improve the lives of everyday people, and that too many of
our elected officials care more about being career politicians than
public servants. But for Audrey, it’s the issues -- rural health care,
wildfire prevention, getting money out of politics -- that matter
most, and her message resonates deeply with the people of northeast
California.
* In 2018, [ [link removed] ]Rep. Josh Harder flipped California’s 10th congressional
district by defeating a Republican who had represented the district
since 2013. This year, Josh is running for re-election to build on the
progressive work he’s done for the district. Harder, who has held
nearly 20 town halls, is committed to the grassroots that will help
him win in November, and we are proud to back his re-election
campaign.
* In 2018, Indivisible endorsed [ [link removed] ]Renee Hoyos for Tennessee’s 2nd
district, and we are proud to endorse her again. In a solidly red
district, Indivisibles got behind Renee because they know she will
stand up to powerful special interests and wealthy insiders to fight
for working families. As the director of Tennessee Clean Water
Network, Renee went against special interests to clean up the state’s
rivers and streams. We know that as a Congresswoman she will fight for
Eastern Tennessee families by raising the minimum wage, lowering
health care costs, and investing in public education.
We’ll see this work through -- by registering voters, door-knocking,
text-banking, and much, much more. Indivisibles can help change the power
landscape because endorsing progressive candidates is just the first
step.
These four candidates are great, but we know that there are many more
races out there where your groups’ endorsements, and a subsequent national
endorsement, can make all the difference. Much like California, New York,
and Tennessee Indivisibles, your initiative could catapult a local race
into the national spotlight!
If your group has endorsed a candidate locally and would like to nominate
that candidate for a national endorsement, we’ll have four more waves of
endorsements announced in April, June, July, and October. We’ll accept
nominations on a rolling basis throughout the election cycle. If you’d
like to submit for the next round, [ [link removed] ]groups have until 11:59pm PT on
Thursday, April 2, to submit candidates for the fourth round of voting.
We’re thrilled that we’re able to get this
cycle’s endorsement program up and moving and excited to see what comes
next. As you can imagine, this has been a lot of work for both groups and
our staff, and over the next twelve months, we’ve budgeted nearly a
million dollars to support the program. [ [link removed] ]If you can, please consider
donating to support our Endorsements program and all of Indivisible
Action’s work!
Can you tell just how excited we are about this? We’re ready to watch your
groups throw all your political power behind these endorsed candidates,
and bring real progressive change to your neighborhoods, districts, and
states!
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
