Right now Republicans in the House are holding secret, closed door meetings plotting to gut our Social Security system – and Mike Johnson is right in the thick of it.
Actually, I take that back. It’s completely believable.
This is how Mike Simpson has always operated in the quarter century he’s spent in Congress. Talking to voters and reporters, he’s the congenial, so-called “moderate” Republican from Idaho. But behind closed doors, he’s as radical as they come.
For 88 years, since Social Security was established, we have honored our promise to our seniors and Americans living with disabilities. Republicans have been angling for decades to cut our benefits to force us to work until we die.
Absolutely nobody wants this – not even Republican voters. That’s why they have to plot behind closed doors.
Let’s get this out in the open: I will never vote to cut Social Security, and as your next Congressman I will work tirelessly to protect your benefits to make sure your retirement income is ready when you are.
David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for almost 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
