Hello Neighbor,

I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving last week full of wonderful food and the company of friends and loved ones. While it was great to get some rest over the holiday, my team and I are excited to get back to work meeting with constituents and local leaders while we’re on legislative break.

As always, my office is always available to answer your questions and provide any assistance that you may need. Please do not hesitate to contact us or call my office at 517-373-7918 if you are in need of help.

Legislative Updates

Earlier this week Governor Whitmer signed into law the Clean Energy Future Plan bill package in Eastern Market, surrounded by state leaders and climate activists. This legislation took months to get across the finish line, and I’m proud that we have taken the necessary steps to fight climate change and improve energy reliability across our state. Not only will this bill package put us on the path towards 100% clean energy by 2040, but it will also lower energy costs by an average of $145 a year and create over 150,000 new jobs across our state. Our work on this front isn’t finished, and I look forward to continue protecting our state’s environment and natural resources in 2024.

Community Updates

I was proud to join local leaders in Romulus last week for a turkey giveaway to help those in need around the holidays. It was great to see so many of our Romulus friends and neighbors, and my team and I are planning on attending more similar events in December to give back.

Later that day, I stopped by the Flat Rock City Council meeting to present my friend Mayor Hammond with a state of Michigan tribute for the work and leadership he has given to his community. It has been a privilege working alongside him for the last year as Flat Rock’s State Senator, and we thank him for all he has done for Flat Rock since taking office. We wish him the very best of luck as he enters this new chapter.

Community Events

Here are our next events that we are hosting in District 4:

Cocoa and Conversation

Our next coffee hour will be at the Romulus Public Library on December 11. This is going to be a great chance to talk about what we’re working on in Lansing and the direction of our Downriver and Western Wayne communities. We hope to see you there!

WHEN: Monday, December 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Romulus Public Library, 11121 Wayne Rd, Romulus, MI 48174

I will also be stopping by to chat with my friends Rep. Churches and Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Stec for a special Winter in Wyandotte Coffee Hour on December 18. This will be a great conversation about what you would like to see from your state and local elected officials, and we hope you can make it!

WHEN: Monday, December 18 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
WHERE: Bacon Memorial Library, 45 Vinewood St, Wyandotte, MI 48192

Finally, I’ll be joining Rep. Miller for a coffee hour in Belleville later in the day on the 18th. I’m excited to join her at the Belleville Library and discuss how we can continue using our momentum to push our Western Wayne communities forward. We hope that you can make it!

WHEN: December 18, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
WHERE: Belleville Area District Library, 167 4th St., Belleville, MI 48111
