*Hard-to-Read
License Plate Event in Natrona Heights*
We held a Hard-to-Read
License Plate replacement event at my Heights Plaza District Office in
Harrison Township on April 5, 2023, and were amazed at the turnout!
The Harrison Police Department was on hand to complete forms and we
were able to help over 100 drivers replace their peeling plates.
If
you couldn't make it to this year's event but still need a
replacement, we are still processing forms for our constituents! Stop
by either of our district offices or give us a call to get a form you
can fill out at your convenience. After you have your local police
department verify your plate is illegible, return the form to our
office and we will have it processed and a replacement plate mailed to
your address.

*Allegheny
River Tour with PA Fish and Boat Commission*
Last month the PA Fish
and Boat Commission Bureau of Law Enforcement [link 1] and the
Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission [link 2] took me on a tour of
the Allegheny River and gave me an in-depth look at what our Waterways
Conservation Officers do to keep us safe on the river every single
day! Our waterway infrastructure, particularly our locks and dams, is
incredibly important for both commerce and recreation. I'm proud to
serve as a member of both the Game and Fisheries Committee in the
Senate and the Port of Pittsburgh Commission and to work to expand
opportunities for our waterways.
Thank you to our federal
representatives for supporting funding, maintenance, and service to
our local locks and dams. This infrastructure is critical to
commercial and recreational travel on our rivers-- without it, river
access will be significantly compromised.

*Fishing and Boating News!*
The Pennsylvania Fish and
Boat Commission [link 7] is making 2024 Fishing Licenses available on
December 1st! Give the gift of fishing this holiday season with a
fishing license gift voucher [link 8] and to get a jump on planning
next year's vacation, check out the 2024 season's sizes and creel
limits above or by clicking here [link 9].
The PA Fish and Boat
Commission is also reminding boaters that from November 1 to April 30
the annual cold weather life jacket requirement is in effect. Everyone
must wear a life jacket [link 10] on any kayak, canoe, paddleboard or
boat less than 16 feet in length. Cold water shock is a significant
factor in boating fatalities when water temperatures are less than 70
degrees F, so be safe and wear your life jacket! To learn more, click

*New PAyback System Promises Refunds for Commonwealth
Application Delays*
Earlier this month, Governor Josh Shapiro
launched a first-in-the-nation online money-back guarantee system,
called PAyback.pa.gov [link 13]. Our offices field scores of calls
every year from professionals, non-profits, and small businesses
regarding wait times and this system should add some much-needed
accountability and transparency to Commonwealth permitting, licensing,
and certification processes.
The new system allows residents,
businesses, charities, and schools to check their eligibility for a
refund of fees if their applications are not processed within a
standardized timeframe. Using PAyback, Pennsylvania workers and
businesses can see the standard processing time for each application
and apply for a refund accordingly.
Approximately 70% of
Commonwealth-issued permits, licenses, and certifications are eligible
for a refund through PAyback. Certain permits, licenses, and
certifications that don't charge application fees or are set by
legislation will not be eligible for a refund. Pennsylvanians cannot
retroactively apply for a refund using PAyback.
To check your
eligibility for a refund of permits, licenses, or certification
application fees, visit payback.pa.gov [link 14].

institution, non-profit organization, or individual that has created,

environmental stewardship in Pennsylvania.
