Hello,

It’s Gillie, Senator-elect Salim’s field director and one of his incoming legislative staffers, and today is my 30th birthday! More importantly, we have been working to ensure we are ready for the 2024 session.

I'm very excited because we chose some great legislation that community members championed to carry! It's a great feeling to know going into my 30s that we are going to have a champion in the State Senate for abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, labor rights, and so many other issues that I care deeply about. I'm also thrilled and honored to be able to work with him to make sure we plan, draft, submit, and vote on these laws in smart and beneficial ways. 

If you would like to celebrate with me, please consider making a donation. We will have three staff in Richmond, and unfortunately one of the topics I've learned more about through pre-session training and orientation is that Virginia is still very outdated in funding our legislators and their staff. I can tell you I am very excited for some of the great, progressive legislation we are preparing to pass in 2024. Chipping in will help us fully fund our operations to pass good legislation and fight for progressive change.
